Andy - if you ever find yourself in a UK hifi specialists, ask the about Peter Belt, Russ Andrews or the whole "mains cleaning" industry.

It's a whole new world of tweaky madness.

Some of the adiophile stuff just boggles my mind.Huh? Cable burn in services, because after you have paid at least £150 for an RCA cable. It needs burning in before it sound at it's best. Then there is the antistatic spray that needs to be sprayed in the ends of your cables every few weeks or so. Need I carry on.LaughingLaughing Don't even start me on paying £2500 for a mains lead.Surprise

Nothing like snake oil to empty the pockets of the gullible. Personally, I am skeptical about speaker bed-in after refoaming, certainly can't see how short term use can make a notiicable audible difference!

As for RCA leads, bah - I bet most would struggle to hear the difference between a DIN plug and a straight gold plated RCA !?

Thanks, Andy, for posting this thread again!  I really enjoyed my visit to Manchester, abnd it was fun to relive it through your posts!

I've been quiet on this site for a while – there's not much to report on right now, I've had a couple of personal losses that have really bothered me, and  health has begun to be an issue for me (I think it's called the "slippery slope")

Sausalito Audio is hard at work on some interesting devices (not in consumer audio) while we wait for the economy to improve to a point where we can actually make and sell our in-wall speakers.  The heavy lifting for all of this is being done by my partner, Manny LaCarrubba.  I'm pretty much retired, doing a little writing, studying high-performance driving, doing a little teaching, working on a couple directorships, and hanging out in my garden, which has really come out nicely.

My daughter, who was doing research in Manchester (and was the reason for my trip) has received her doctorate and is now on the faculty teaching British history at Harvard (of all places! – I do love to brag about it) in a temporary appointment.

Because of health, I've pretty much stopped traveling, but I'm still up for a visit for any BeoWorlder who finds him or herself in Boston.

    That's the news  .  .  .

    Best regards, and thanks again.

I do hope the slope is actually more of a small undulation! You must be very proud of your daughter! Thank you for the support you show Beoworld and I do hope you feel better soon.
