    Re: Masterlink over CAT5

Lexcom have cables converting from Masterlink to RJ45.

I have CAT-5 between my rooms but please note that CAT-5 lacks one pin compaired to CAT-6 which is what Lexcoms own cables is based on.

My own experience is that CAT-5 is sufficient for B&O Masterlink BUT with the exception when cabling to ie Beolink Active. Here you need all 9 pins.

Maybe someone have other experiences related to this?

    Re: Masterlink over CAT5

Always interested in "cabling" questions and answers on here! Does this mean that if I wire the whole house with CAT 6 cable then I will not need masterlink? If so how do I "connect" the terminated CAT 6 into the masterlink or powerlink connectors? Do they require simple soldering or is it more demanding that that? Also are these blank connectors freely available or would I have to cannibalise existing cables?

    Cheers anyone

    Peter
