"Hockey Puck" IR Eye Service manual

    Hi,

I'm looking for a service manual for a hockey puck IR eye.

I have a broken puck - IR is not working, only buttons.

    Anybody?

    Thanks Rasmus

You have checked that it is not set to Option 0? Try L.Opt Number on a beo4 or Link, Number Store on the Beolink 1000.

I may be able to get hold of the manual, though I am not sure how useful it will be. What device are you using it with? Beolink Active etc?

It maybe disabled rather than broken, perhaps someone knows how to check.  I didn't know there was a service manual for the IR Eye, if there was one can someone upload it?

I would be surprised if the IR is at fault and even if a Service Manual existed which I think is most unlikely, it would not help you, because any faulty part would require the small round board to be replaced. Assuming it was working and you did not change the configuration in any way, then I suggest you test it on another unit (example Beolink Passive) or have it tested at your dealer.

    Regards Keith....

Having seen comments like this one:

"Member kallasr should be urged to attach the picture to his message in the Beoworld forum rather than an external link. It would also allow us to keep the info regardless of others websites."

I just want to let you guys know, that the forum picture attachment DOES NOT WORK with my computer/set-up. And I am sure, I am not the only one with these issues.

The comment above was deleted by the way....

    Best regards

Actually I think I have the service manual! Not sure how useful it is but it does have the circuit diagram and pictures of the PCB. I'll see what I can do.

I have put the service manual for the Beolink Active on - the IR puck is included.

Re: "Hockey Puck" IR Eye Service manual

Thank you all for your replies, and Peter thanks for the Service Manual.

It's a used puck connected to a used BeoLink Passive. I bought them on two different internet auctions, so they have never worked together before.

I'll try to change the option at first. Where is the option information stored, in the Puck or in the attached BeoLink unit?

    Thanks again
    Rasmus

Re: "Hockey Puck" IR Eye Service manual

The option information is stored in the device (product) and not in the IR "Hockey Puck" as you call it.

The IR Receiver/Transmitter receivers the signal and converts it into TTL levels for the attached product plus drivers for the two LED's

As the "Puck" apparently works for all functions other than the IR, then the problem is likely to be either:-

    • A Faulty IR circuit in the Puck
    • Incorrect option value
    • The "Puck" incorrectly wired to the Din plug which goes into the Beolink Passive.

Do you have a spare IR receiver you could test the Beolink Passive with ?

    Regards Keith....

Re: "Hockey Puck" IR Eye Service manual

Thanks for your quick reply Keith!

I will get back to you with the result, when I have tried to change the option and checked the wiring.

Unfortunately I don't have a spare IR receiver to test the Beolink Passive with...
