    Beolab 8000 speaker fault?

I have just re-connected a pair of Beolab 8000 speakers to my Beosound Ouverture and one speaker is not working. I have checked the cables by swapping them around and the cables seem in good order as do the outlet sockets on the stereo. One of the 8000's operates normally the other just seems to gives a static click every second or so. Both speakers display green led lights in operation as is normal. Has anyone experienced such a problem please. I can't give you too much recent history about the speakers other than they are about 4 years old and have been in storage for about 8 months  I've just collected them and transported them to my new home to connect them up again. I'd apprecaite any help or suggestions. Thanks Hosky

just a thought, they have a switch for left and right, are they both switched differently?

Thanks - I've just checked - one was switched left the other switch was in the centre position (if there is a such a thing). I'm just going to connect them up again and try. I'll let you know. Thank you again.

    Dear GK31AX,

Checked again - no luck I'm afraid. I moved the switch to all positions whilst playing a CD and the same static click every half-second or so. Thanks for you help anyway. Hosky

    Thank you Neil,

Are you a qualified engineer because it's been suggested that it might be the amplifier inside the speaker. What do you think? Thanks for your interest. By the way I'm in St Ives in Cornwall.

    Cheers David

I have seen a similar fault on one occasion and it was the mains relay.

Dealer fix and cost around £50 if I recall.

It was just over £100 and we had to wait over 2 weeks because B&O didnt have any of the relays in stock.

They charged us £30 just to diagnose it and then a further £70 odd to fix it.

I bet the relay cost them pennies!!

Thank you all very much. It's probably the mains relay as you suggest so I'll pop te speaker into a local dealer. Cheers David
