    HDR2 and Avant VTR? HDR2 vs. DVD2?

    Hi all,

I'd like to add an option to record TV shows on a hard disk to my old (but great) Avant VTR 28. Is either the HDR2 or the DVD2 compatible with my TV, or do they interfer with the builtin VTR? Any other pros / cons for one of these 2 devices?  I am suprised by the fact that they are at about the same price, while the DVD2 also offers a builtin DVD player...

    Thanks in advance

    Christof

You can not use HDR2 with your Avant, only DVD2. but will recommend you to get a b&o DVD controller and then a no name DVD recorder instead.

The HDR2 is a superior device as it will allow timer recordings from a digital source. The DVD2 will not. The DVD2 is a very disappointing machine in my view - a rebadged Philips - slightly de-specced! I agree completely with the Stig - DVD controller and other make DVD-R. I have a Panasonic one with HDD, DVD-R and DVB-T all built in. Works quite well though I do keep the Panasonic remote around just in case!!

    Hi Peter,

Which Panasonic machine do you have and does it work well with the DVD controller?

    Regards

    Rasmus

The EH60D - quite well though I would not rely on the DVD controller alone , particularly when compiling a DVD. To be fair to the controller, the DVD-R is one of three sources all answering to V.aux attached to my AV9000!

HDR2 will only work with compatible B&O televisions.
