Re: Mancunian alert! Woop woop woooop . . .

I too plan to be there, if I am quick enough on the PM.

Shame you are unable to go Peter. We could have went in the Jag which is running superbly since I had the rear shocks replaced. Actually its been sat in an airport car park for the last 6 weeks so it may need some TLC when I get home this week.

Thanks to David Jennings for pulling this together, and being so welcoming.  I'm really looking forward to my visit and meeting with all of you.

I'm not so sure about the "genius" part of Lee's kind words, though.  More like, "moderately overweight doofy working stiff who got lucky after having a good idea."  I'll try to keep from boring you, though.

    Best regards

OK - still places available to Beoworlders - those who have PM'd already -  places reserved.  Replies to follow later today - I'm out and about for most of today.

Thanks to Dave and Lee for kind words earleier in this thread - from my point of view, its an honour to host such an event.

I've had a few calls re specific music - the intention is to play a variety of styles so the ALT range is heard accros most genres - I'm sure no one will like all of it, but everyone should like some of it, and the idea is to hear the abilities of the speakers to "play music" effectively, so I will probably have a predetermined selection of stuff to play on the night - without sounding too audiophile about it.

    Roll on the 31st....

Only a few places left now - anyone intending to come along should get on the reserved list asap, to avoid dissapointment on the night.

In addition to the main event ( Mr Moulton and his tales of all things ALT ) our genial host Lee is also onfirmed.

As an added bonus, it is looking likely that the Beoworld January Prize Draw will be done live on the night - details tbc.

So its a one-off chance be at a "Live" Beoworld prize draw, in addition to our special guest.

    Regards

    David

Well I shall be drinking the terrible "Trophy Bitter" elsewhere whilst getting thumped at a Pub Quiz and will sadly miss the live drawSad

I shall however read the proceedings with great interest and squinting eyes upon my return home. I look forward to tales and pictures of great factual content (Mr. Moulton) and great frivolity and entertainment (jandyt and LEE).

    Do not disappoint!

(A prize or two in my inbox wouldn't go amiss either)!

    Me too,

I'm on call all this week and I've been brought in twice already so I couldn't really risk itSad

Knowing Dave & the King Street crew you will have a great evening. I would have loved to have met Dave Moulton - he is a true gent for donating his time to this. Oh and he photographs better than most of the motley Beoworld crew - judging by what I've seen so far any way.

It was excellent, and whoever didn't or couldn't make it missed a great evening.

We went for a beer and then a bite to eat afterwards, and i had a better chance to talk to Dave.  He's insanely intelligent, and has a wicked sense of humour too..

On being escorted back to his hotel, saying goodbye on the doorstep, he emotionally said (not sure if this is word for word as i'd had a few..

"Of all the presentations i've done and trips i've had, this really is the most... recent"

Great comedy timing.. we were all geared up for something prolific.. Laughing

Profound! - the man's a true philosopher. I missed several hours sleep last night contemplating the full existentialist implications of such a seemingly simple statement. I now exist on a higher plain and feel truly fullfilled.Big Smile

I'd like to thank David, Ian and Graham (of the King St. store in Manchester) and Lee (BeoWorld, of course) for making my visit possible and so pleasant.  You guys are great!

Thanks for the great crowd, for the pub, and for the really nice shop-talk in the Chinese restaurant after.  I really enjoyed myself, and learned a lot about the Briish market.

Anyway, after hiking around Manchester, visiting York (now there's a BIIIIGG cathedral!) and hiking around in the Peak district, I made it back safe and sound to the colonies.  Looking forward to the spring and the Moggie.

If you ever wanna do this again, I'm game!  Thanks again.

    And remember:

If it was easy, everybody would be doing it!

    Thanks for listening,
