Another fine mess - help needed!

Well, my new BL7000 charger is in need of some minor surgery!

Seems my over zealous attempt at assembling the stand has resulted in me pulling the power cable away from the plug!! doh!!

As you can see from the photos, I am unable to determine which is -/+ so can anyone help? two cables are blue and red...

Feel very silly at the moment..

Red is usually positive and blue negative (but you knew that!) but I do have the charger service manual - I'll check it tonight. I notice it is not on site so I will try to remedy that as well!

Many many thanks Peter!! I have a feeling the longer terminal is - and the shorter is + but will wait and see!

    (I sort of knew!)

If I was to wire this up the wrong way,.. whats the worst that would happen? would the fuse go first?? or would the whole thing fo up in smoke???

I would guess you would take out a diode but I've no circuit diagram.

Knowledge is power as they say. Some devices can cope with reversed polarity but I wouldn't take the chance. Unless you know if positive is inner or outer your on a 50/50 chance. You could phone your dealer up or would it be a case of certainly we'll let our technicians have a look SirLaughing

It is on - I hope it is high enough quality but I wanted to make sure that it was not too big to upload.

    Many thanks Peter!

But afraid it does not show what colour is added to the ac(?) adapter in the stand... Hmm...

Anyone else own a stand who would not mind removing the plug to have a quick look for me??

Is this the table charger? Mine looks like this.

The cable goes under the circuit board and attaches to the wires as shown. Thinking about things, it comes with a two pin plug anyway so I don't think it makes any difference! Mine is changed to a three pin simply to fit our plugs.

I would agree with Peter, A lot of these products are fitted with 2 pin plugs therefore it doesnt matter which is which

i think the last two posters are confusing AC and DC  (after the transformer). Surely the part you are showing is low voltage and therefore polarity-sensitive.

Re: Another fine mess - help needed!

Correct it's 7v DC (from the manual) but frustratingly doesn't tell you what the polarity is. "Mostly" it's positive centre but I wouldn't risk it.

My fault - I thought the power cable had come loose.- hence the photo!

I am inclined to agree with Peter here! BUt I know next to nothing about electronics!

Just to remind, the charger is for the stand and not the base unit.  I will take some more photos to confirm later.

Why don't you simply call B&O?

If I have a problem I call them here in Munich (not the dealers - they know nothing)  and they could answer all my questions up to now...

Or ask him: webmaster@ulf-kiener.de (in German, maybe English - don't know...)

With it being an obselete item I very much doubt they would have this information to hand... and would probably refer to a service engineer.

Some more photos, hope these are of help!!

As you can see on the far right, the two bare cables are where the plug at the top would go which is after the transformer??

And this is the base of the stand where the plug goes in to power the floor stand.

Again, many many thanks for all help so far.

I hadn't realised it was the stand - I didn't scan that bit - I'll do it tonight and see if it is any more helpful!
