    BS4500 above a radiator..

    Am I asking for trouble?

Wall mounted my 4500 above a radiator, distance is approx 2ft but my concern is whether or not the heat may do some damage? or can I add a shelf just above the radiator to deflect some of the heat?

I think you'd be significantly shortening the lifespan of your BS4500.

The CD-player and tape-players have moving parts, with lubrication. Excess heat will dry out that. In addition, you'd be drying out electronic parts. (Given enough time, these will dry out -- but being placed close to a heat source would accelerate that process.)

    Not recommended ...

Not worth risking it if you ask me Mobe. Can you not put it on another wall? Even with a shelf I would still have my doubts.

In the great words of Doc Einstien... Damn damn!!!

Thanks all! Andy.. tell me about it.. Would have been ideal aswell!!!

I could use another wall Craig but the wall I was planning on using is ideal and longer which accomadates the whole length of the 4500 and is close to my tv and speakers... Other option is on a shorter wall but my bedroom has an angled wall so two parts would need to be fixed on one side and the remaining on the other which would break up the 4500 in all its glory!

    Back to the drawing board!

Know what you mean, the complete Beosystem 4500 is quite long when assembled. Saw one at someones house a while back, and was quite suprised just how long it is.

Knowing your luck, it would soften the glue and the glass would fall out! I wouldn't risk it!

Good thought Peter, I never thought about that. Plus you cannot get the panels anymore if this were to happen.
