Can you use the Beo5 out of the box without configuration

    Hi everybody

I have just ordered the Beo 5 from a internet store. Can i use it out of the box to control

    Beocenter 2 ,

    lights ,

and a tv through Lintronic converter without any configuration.

Is it just blank or what?

How did all you people get your hands on the config-software?

    regards

    Trask,

out of the box the BEO5 is empty. I can't do anything. I has to be programmed by your dealer.

The software to program it is not included and cannot be downloaded or bought.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Sadly this means that i cant use the remote for anything when i get it and i have to go pay a dealer to do it.

Will  no one share the software? Are you all dealers or what?

Those who have had the software had to swear to their dealer that they would not share it.

You should find a dealer that would give you the software when you buy the remote.

Be careful of one point. Some version of the software are bugged and you will need to get the next version from your dealer.

Yes, you have to pay the dealer of choice a amount of money ,dependig on your configuration and complexity. It would be so much better to include a basic software into the beo5 box..but its bnO.

The other problem is that the new software requires the firmware of the Beo5 to be updated and this can only be done when attached to the B&O intranet. For this you require a log in and password.

Of course we are all dealers !!! not you ???

Not a very polite way to ask for something

    I'm just thinking about it.

    Don't I what?

Seems to me that if you think the software should be avalable to the public you could help B&O along with the process.

Wans't aware that I needed warm up posts before asking what i needed to know.

No problem with you asking but unfortunately we are not dealers and don't have easy access to the software. Some of us do have it but it is 65Mb so not easy to share and there are a variety of issues in using it that cause problems. The firmware update is the latest hurdle.

I have deleted the last set of replies in this thread as the thread was becoming offensive.

    To re-iterate:

This site will not tolerate offensive posts.

We have been asked not to distribute the Beo5 software so it is not available on site at present.

Dealers have the software - I suggest that if you have bought a considerable amount from them that they may consider giving you the software but that is up to them.

On the whole, abusing us will not increase the likelihood of getting the software.

Fair enuf ! - I will obtain the software and then distribute it to all users of this forum via an appropopriate link in the near future.

In the meantime I would think that the majordomo carefully thinks about whether or not this is a B&O sponsered site or whether it is going to be a TRUE forum.

    Sibar / Trask,

What's your definition of a "true forum" ?
