    beolink 5000 issue

I have a MX3500 which is connected to a MCL2AV which in turn is connect to my 4500 system and a BV6 (main room). At this moment my BL5000 remote, which I use in the link room is set up for 2 way on audio and one way on video (otherwise I cannot use the DVD-1 form the main room),somehow is unable to recieve information back from the MX3500. I just says No Contact. I've tried my BL7000 on the MX3500 and this works fine. I suspect the problem is in the BL5000. Anybody have any ideas what's going on? I jused to work fine.

Does it work two way with the 4500 system in the main room?

Peter even if it doesn't work with the 4500 system that could just be because the older 4500 systems didn't have the software for the 2-way communication, no?

It does not work with the 4500 in the main room because it is set to option 0 because it's connected to my BV6 through a T1611. In my link room my BL7000 does work. If i take my BL5000 to my other link room were I have a MCL2A it has the same problem. Whenever I press status I just get No Contact. I seems like the problem is with the remote itself. I used to work just fine by the way.

    Re: beolink 5000 issue

I had the same problem with my Beolink 5000 some time ago.
After i had replaced the batteries the problem was solved.

I don't know if it is the same issue with your Beolink 5000,
but you could give it a try.

I did put in new ones, but they were very cheap Ikea batteries. I'll try a decent batch tonight.

Leaking capacitors on the IR transceiver PCB in the bottom of Beolink 5000 can cause this. Another symptom is short battery life - less than a week. May also caused by liquid ingress into the remote.

If your Beolink 5000 is set to one-way for video it can't receive information from your MX3500. It must be set to two-way, but then you can't control your DVD1 in the main room.
Your Beolink 7000 is probably set to two-way for video.

Does the Beolink 5000 receive information from the Beosystem 4500 in the link room? If yes then there is no problem with the Beolink 5000.

It used to recieve information from the 4500 through the MX3500. It's set for one-way on video and two-way for audio.

Cozza; Is it easy replace the leaking capacitors?

    Re: beolink 5000 issue

I don't recommend working on the Beolink 5000 if you have never opened one before. The display cable is easily damaged, and you have to replace the display and upper micro board together if this occurs. The IR PCB  may still be available as a spare part, it contains the IR hardware and the lower keypad. I'd recommend checking with a dealer for availability before attempting repairs.
