I am looking to use my ipod as my bedroom system through BL8000 therefore any advice appreciated on the simplest and most direct route to connect the two. Has sanyone done something similar?

I would assume just use 2 single rca audio cable, one for each speaker and connect them to a 3.5 mm stereo plug and plug it into your ipod.

You can get 2 rca to stereo connector cable easily at any electronic store.

    Hope this helps

What is the system in your bedroom? It is probably easier to attach the iPod via a dock to the Aux input on the system rather than having wires to the speakers. The above suggestion is the simplest if you have nothing else in the room though.

Nothing else in the room at the moment, but may add a BS4 later.

Anyone connected the ipod directly? Interested to hear what the view on SQ is.

The sound will be good, but obviously not as good as CD. The iPods can actually sound very good as long as you use high bitrates, preferably in AAC format or Apple Lossless format (although the latter takes up stupid amounts of space).

One thing I would recommend is an in-line volume control, you can get them from Maplins for £3.99. Unplugging my BeoLab 4s from my laptop produces a pretty darn loud pop, but this in-line volume control did away with this issue.
