Contacts for glass panel on Beomaster 4500

On the Beomaster 4500, I've had trouble with the touch panel engaging the upper right buttons: am/fm, store, etc. When I take the glass panel apart, there are some rubber tubes covering the vertical metal rods on the circuit board. Do the tubes on this rear portion have to be a little longer than the front ones? I'm wondering because as one pushes down on the rear of the glass panel, I am presuming that the glass panel is coming into contact with the white plastic housings for the light bulbs before the black rubber tubes can do whatever it is that they do. (What do they do exactly, and why are they rubber?)

I've re-siliconed the glass panel to the plastic holder, but have to wait until it cures to reinstall.

The "rubber" is actually a flexible electric conductor.
Yes, it needs to touch the field on the back of the glass in order to work.
Check that the PCB board sits firmly in all it's little hooks in the plastic frames.

    Thank you Martin,

The glue is set-up by now, so I will put the Beomaster 4500 back together and see if I was sucessful.

I appreciate your help, as always.
