    counterweight 4002

I have a recently resurrected beogram 4002 and seems to be playing pretty well.   The counterweight has areas of stiffness, then it gives and then it is stiff when trying to adjust it.   So I don't know if the counterweight is  accurate.   Anyway to check the counterweight?  If it is out of adjustment,  any suggestions on how to get it back to working properly.   If it needs professional help, any repair shops in SoCal?  Thanks

You probably just need to apply a few drops of acid free oil to the moving parts. There is a picture, somewhere, in an older post about the same problem. In one case I have had to disassemble the mechanism and clean it for accumulated dirt, before I got it to move freely.
