    LX 2500 - won't start

    Hi,

My LX2500 came back from the repair shop yesterday, they re-soldered some stuff (my English isn't that good, especially not the technological words).

It worked perfectly yesterday and this morning.
But now, when I try to turn it on, the red light disappears for some seconds, and then comes back.

It has been like that the whole evening, except one time, when it turned on, but the picture went almost completely black after a little while...

So, what's going on? Is it the repairman’s fault? Is it serious?

    Welcome to Beoworld !

Sounds like you will have to take the LX back to the repairer... Doesn't sound too bad though, probably a capacitor or some dry solders he missed the first time.

    Re: LX 2500 - won't start

    Thank you very much!Smile

I'll take the TV back to the repairman on Monday, hopefully they will fix it for free!

BTW, here is the work description, it's in Norwegian, but I have no change to translate it, but since you're Danish, maybe you understand it:

    "
    Demontert og feilsøkt.
    Blåst rein for støv.
Loddet generellt over hele power, linjetrinn og avbøyningsprint.

    "

And one more thing; the TV works perfectly now, is it safe to use it?

    Re: LX 2500 - won't start

I would get it checked, just to make sure.
Lose connections can't be ruled out as fire hazard.

    Translations:

    - Demontert og feilsøkt.
    Dismounted and checked for faults
    - Blåst rein for støv.
    Cleaned off dust
Found bad connection in potentiometers for frequency adjustment in tuner
    - Loddet synlige vakkel, og smurt opp potmetre, finjuster.
Found visible bad connection, lubricated potentiometers, adjusted
    - Loddet generellt over hele power, linjetrinn og avbøyningsprint.
General solder in all power, linedriver and deflection board
Contrast screen dismounted, cleaned picture tube and backside of contrast screen. Cabinet treated with teak oil.
    - Koblet opp og prøvekjørt OK.
Powered up and test run OK.

Seems like it had a fairly good service performed.

I haven't serviced that many TV's but I know that bad solders
are plentyful in these models. Great TV's none-the-less.

    Re: LX 2500 - won't start

    Hi!

The repair shop have had it for two weeks now, I just got it back. Here's what they did:

"Koblet opp og prøvekjørt, skrudde seg av etter en stund.
    Demontert og feilsøkt.

loddet generellt over bilderørsprint, power og linjetrinn.
    Koblet opp og prøvekjørt OK.

    satt på test."

They tested it for two days, but it still doesn't work!

    But! I have discovered something; it seems to me, that it is the tuner that is the problem. Because;

I was watching DVD, and it worked perfectly, but when I switched over to TV, the picture went black, only the "indicator" on the top off the screen (that tells you what channel it's on) was there (and the sound). But when I switched back to DVD, the picture came back.

Then I turned it off, and it wouldn't start again.

So... It seems to me, that the tuner (or the connections on the tuner) is the problem.

    What do you think?

    An update:

The repair shop have had it over a month now, but just started to work on it yesterdayAngry

He called me and said that he had found a broken component that could be the cause, but he wanted to test it for some days...

    Here's what he wrote:

    Demontert og feilsøkt.
Funnet def lytt i linjetrinn (C26)

    C26 ... which is a capacitor.

Probably not the most experienced repairshop but maybe they cured the poor thing now.

    No, they have not...

Stopped by yesterday, and they said that they hade changed some components that were a little bit out of spec, but it still wouldn't work...

But another repairer is going to look at it on Monday - with fresh eyes...

Tell the repairer Martin (Dillen) is watching what happens... that will keep him 'on his toes' as we say in England. Laughing

    Re: LX 2500 - won't start

Yeah, that's what I should have doneWink

But anyway, the other guy apparently fixed it; it has worked for two days now, and it is showing Pink Floyd - Pulse right beside me hereSmile

    Here's what he wrote:

Demontert og feilsøkt (vanskelig feilsøking da feilen er meget periodisk).
Byttet dårlige transistorer og kondensator i linjedriver.
Omloddet BU. Montert. Koblet opp og prøvekjørt OK.

The first guy said that if the hadn't fixed it now, I would get my money back (I don't think he want to see that TV again, everLaughing)

Can't say that they're speed is very good, though:
    1 16.07.2007 Innlevert
    2 20.08.2007 Under arbeid
    3 30.08.2007 Reparert
(I handed it in 16. July, they started working on it 20. August and fixed it 30. August)

Thank you very much for you're help Martin!Smile

    Re: LX 2500 - won't start

And now it doesn't work again[:'(]

Same fault: doesn't turn on, and if it turns on the picture fades to black (but the channel number remains...)

I guees I have to go back to my (not so) old PanasonicSad
