    Re: New Purchase

Marks to the screen, scratches to the stands footplate trim - and dents to the speaker grille.

Oh, and if it's got a 7.1 on it, you've been had !! (it should be a 7.2)

If you buy it - enjoy! Smile

    Re: New Purchase

Agreed! Also check there's no dirt managed to get behind the anti-reflection screen. B&O do a lot to make sure it doesn't happen, but it's not completely unheard of.

Dents in the speaker grille can easily be fixed, either just by pushing the grille back into place (pretty easy) or by getting a new grille.

As Lee says, if it's a 7.1 with a 40", you've either been had or the seller is confused. The 40" BeoVision 7 should only come with a 7.2 (wider than the actual TV itself) or a 7.4. Never a 7.1 (which is designed for the 32" version).

Though I do remember reading from member(s) here who bought the 7-40 with the 7.1, because they found the 7.2 to be too wide ...

    Re: New Purchase

You're spot on Alex - getting a new grille fixes pretty much 100% of dented grilles.. LaughingLaughing

Pushing it back, which Alex rightly refers to, is a bit hit and miss - but you may actually fluke a perfect repair and save yourself some money. However, when buying, a dented grille means a discount to the value of a new grille.

Sorry i didn't specify why a 7.1 was not correct, thanks for clarifying Alex. Smile

Ruins the designers intended look, and Mr Lewis would be seriously unimpressed i'm sure! Indifferent

I actually intended to purchase it with the 7.1 as I dont like the look of the 7.2 overhanging the screen.

and having seen the TV and speaker, I have now paid in full.

Congratulations. Could you actually post a picture how that looks once you get it? Maybe we are all in for a surprise. I would really like to see how that looks. In the beginning I wasn't to keen with the BL7 look either but somehow got used to it.

    Cheers

    Re: New Purchase

I think personally the speaker 'overhang' makes the TV what it is - it's this design statement that makes it different to all other TV's, and gets it away from that 'boxy' look.

However, we are all different and have different tastes, and as long as the end user is happy the purchase is a success! Smile

I have to join Andy on this one. I like the BL7-2 with the BV7-40, but I think the BL7-1 does not look bad at all. As allways, it is a question of taste.

It looks more like an uggly 4:3 CRT with the 7-1.. (I have seeing it in real life)

The BV 7-40 was designed with the 7-2!  Not with the 7-4 or the 7-1 speaker.

    Re: New Purchase

I disagree about the 7.4. I actually prefer the 7-40 and the 7-32 with the 7.4 rather than any other 7 speaker, it looks more like it's 'floating', just neater and overall it's got more 'wow' IMO.

Either way, I don't like the 7-40 with the 7.1 centre channel. The wider speaker is just part of the design IMO. It's like taking Beolab 8000s and making them shorter, or taking an Avant and chopping the bottom of. It's just 'not done'. Still, each to their own I suppose, and if you prefer it like that, then don't let us influence you...

I have to disagree with all of you, you see when you can afford to drop £8000 in the blink of an eye on a TV you should be able to "have it your way" and thats what i have done,

    Jon

btw, if the designers had a particular look, they would not have made 3 different types of speaker.

I'm i understand you correct now? Have you let a designer to design your TV for you? Witch Brand are we talking about then? Can u describe a little more particular and show some pictures of your TV..?
