    DVD2 Timer workaround

Those who read other threads will know that I was very disappointed about the DVD2, the main reason being that it does not support timed recording from set top boxes.

I wanted to buy the box and will probably not because of this issue.

However. I found a possible workaround...

Most set top boxes have 2 scarts, so you can connect one to the TV and one to the EXT1 socket of the DVD2.

You can programme the DVD2 to record at a certain time from EXT1, and - separately- you can programme the set top box to tune to a channel at a certain time, using the set top box own scheduler.

    The Good:

    • It should work, and all with the Beo4

    The Bad

    • it is not elegant,
    • it require the 2 clocks to be in sync,
    • it does not "lock" the channel on the set top box, like another recorder would do,
    • it will not allow recording of the DVB module in the Beovision.
