Dear Lee and Van,

I've noticed that a few posts on the forum use Comic Sans. This is the worst typeface ever made. Ever. Seeing it on the lovely, newly-redesigned Beoworld is like finding someone has stuck a comedy eyes, nose and mouth on a pair of Beolab 5s.

Please fix it for me to have it banned from the site so that my eyes can stop bleeding when I see its horribleness on my computer screen.

Im not a fan of comic sans - tahoma all day long!

Helvetica for me! (Happy birthday to it by the way! 50 years this month!) We should have Beofrutiger though! I have it on my Word - should be able to transfer it!

 

I prefer Arial Narrow and I like most of the fonts, but I hate Comic Sans for some years, since everybody used to use it. Buuähh

Funny thing: i can't find any more how to change the police... Could someone recall it to me plz?

I certainly think there should be some consistency on the forum. Allowing posts to be in different fonts is hard on the eye and looks messy. Can't we just have one font for everyone?

There are only a handful of fonts on the planet that are less B&O than Comic Sans.
B&O is synonymous with refined visual sophistication. Comic Sans isn't.

All elements of the new Beoworld have clearly been carefully considered and designed
to a high aesthetic standard. Individuality and choice is great but I agree. One suitable
font would make for a more professional and appropriate looking forum. :-)

It is a despicable and horrible typeface, and I fully support the ban.

 
 

Perhaps we should use the B&O font

This sounds like Serene. To avoid a Serene from starting to play Crazy Frog you can only use the preinstalled ring signals. Maybe B&O only should preinstall special music on all BeoSounds too, to avoid missuse of for example BeoLab 5.

So actually, in the name of freedom of speach I support Comic Sans (even if I rather stab a pen through my BL8000´s then using Comic Sans myself).

The White on black font that the official forum uses BLAGGS MY 'ED

After reading it for a few minutes, I have to run around shaking my head and grimacing to get my eyes to focus on anything.

Ah, but the difference here is that unlike the music played in the privacy of your own home, everyone else is subjected to a horrible choice of ringtone or typeface

Frutiger 55. There is actually a BeoFrutiger, but the standard Frutiger will get you there. 

Just checked though, it appears that Frutiger is not in the stander internet font-set, so you can't code for it when entering posts. I may be wrong.

I think if you have to install the font then only you will be able to see it when you post as everyone else has to have the font installed aswell??

Agree with Jonny; anyone using Comic Sans should be banned. Immediately ;)

What type of font B&O use for the text on there systems?

Varies - the font on the Beolab/Beomaster 5000 seems to be Helvetica - I am sure Frede can tell us exactly what it is. I replaced the number on one of mine using Letraset Helvetica and it looked very good.

Helvetica was first used by B&O on the BeoMaster 1200 or the BeoLab 5000 system I believe, it was a favourite of Jensen's but was dropped at the Beosystem 5000 for something different (but very similar).

Yes, most if the Jensen-designed beoproducts use Helvetica. I think the change (to Frutiger?) was at the same time as they changed from brushed aluminium to polished aluminium, but I may be wrong. I think Helvetica was an excellent choice, btw.

Glad we all levelled off on this font.
Much easier on the eye than multiple fonts.

Personally, I find this a lot easier to read than Helvetica, although I must admit I'd like an 11pt version. I just find it interesting that we have Wingdings as an option... Hmmm, Papyrus would be nice.

Although I'm no fan of comic sans rather than inflicting a set of mandated fonts on everyone, why not set your browser to only render in the fonts you prefer?
