    BeoVision 10 sound quality

    HI everyone,

I read in official site that B&O is advertising BeoVision 10 and claim that it's not only a TV but that it can be your stereo system.

As I'm thinking of a new TV, can someone tell me if this is true? I'm wondering if the sound produced by the in build speakers can be compared with a BeoSound 8, Beolit 12 or any other in the range? If it is like this, this could be enough for me in a small room.

Same question about the hypothetic entry level BeoVision from the BeoPaly range... if ever it is launched...

    Thanks

Sure it's comparable to a Beosound 8. Better! Compared to a BV7-40 with 7.2 (see other thread), it's not as good. But it's definitely much better than, say, my BS8 or similar hi-fi.

I don't think I'd use it as a hi-fi though. I never even used my BV7 (which, at one stage, had a 7.4 and 2 x BL9s) as a "hifi". Seems a bit weird to me, particularly when the BS8 is small and compact enough to be placed in most locations.

Thank you for your quick reply.

    I'm impressed.

I like the idea of having only one device per room. So it would be a good chance to have the possibility to use the BeoVision as a small sound system when needed.

I would not use my BV10 as a stereo system. It's good for a flat TV, but nothing spectacular.

I suggest you listen to it before you make up your mind.

If you complement the BeoVision 10 with BeoLab 11 subwoofer, as I have, the sound improves remarkably (BeoVision 10 lacks in terms of bass on its own). With BeoLab 11, I am using BeoVision 10 also as "a stereo" for listening music. I've noticed that BeoLab 11 "plays well together" with BV10, it integrates nicely with the TV's speakers.

Has anybody switched some nice front speaker (BL9 or BL5) to the BV10-46, so the speaker of the BV10-46 is only used as center?

I must admit, my dealer is always recommending this combo to me. I thought it was simply to shift a BL11, but they insist it makes a big difference (to the BV10).

    I have bv10-46, bl3 as fronts and 4000 as rears, I also have a BC2.

Shure U can use the bv10 as a hifi - with extra sppeakers, but just use the bv10 is a waste of money in my opinion.. The bv10 has alot of nice featutres that U can use as a system - not stand aloe. Shure the speaker i greeat compared to other manufacturer of tvs.. But compared to my BL3 its not even close.. Get the tv and a set of BL3 then I think it will workout for U.

    Re: BeoVision 10 sound quality

    Hi,

I'm using my BV10-46 together with a Beosound 3000 and an AppleTV without any other speaker for listening radio and music (and watching TV of course). I've one big room and I'm totally satisfied with the sound. But I'm no audiophil I have to admit.

Adding additional speakers is always an option of course.

It is transformational - with an Apple TV/iCloud combination, it is entirely possible to listen to music in remarkably decent quality.

After awhile it does not seem so unusual to listen to music through your TV.

    Highly recommended addition.

This has just sparked question i have been meaning to ask for ages. Which has better sound? The Beovision 10 or the Avant?

I have a BV10 and am not that impressed with the sound quality.

I have the TV on a stand. Maybe the sound is better when the TV is wall mounted.

I recently have listened and bought the BS8 (not for myself) and was higly impressed by the sound.

Not to be compared with the BV10 speakers in my opninion. Maybe I should crank up the volume a bit andall will be better. Laughing

Have a good demonstration at your dealer and decide for yourself. Start with the TV, you can always buy extra speaker(s) later.

    Re: BeoVision 10 sound quality

I have and use both avant and BV10. On their own the avant has much better sound. Don't get me wrong the BV10 doesn't have bad sound at all. I have the 10 in my main room with with 4 BLs and a BL2 but still sometime use it in speaker 1 when watching TV. As recommended below, go have a listen with some your your music.

    BV10, AvantDVD, BS3000, BL8000, BL6000, BL4000, BL3500, BeoPorts, BC9300, BC7002, CX100s, C75s, Beo4s, BC6000s, LC2s, A9, A8s,

    Try wall mounting an AvantErm

This is silly. One is a dedicated floor stander designed for internal volume, the other isn't. A compromise yes but when matched with the appropriate speakers fine. I have a 7-40 with a 7.4 speaker shortly to be traded in for a 10-40. Try listening to music with the 7.4 speaker alone!

A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

    Re: BeoVision 10 sound quality

i recieved and avant last christmas and i love it. the stand no longer turns when your turn the set on and off but it still works with the remote :) i had a pair of beolab 2000 before it and i thought the sound was good until i got the TV. so i decided to plug my ouverture into it and it has been the best tv set up i have ever owned. i just hope it never fails or i will be greatly upset. from what i hear the sound on the BV 10 isnt as deep as the avant. But i thought since it was newer it would be better!

If the stand still turns with the remote are you sure it is not just that the stand positions programmed into the TV via the menu are incorrect? I.e. all in the centre? If you move the stand to the left and then switch the TV off, does it not turn back?

Try just about any other TV other than a B&O and you'll soon realise the BV10-46 sound quality is superb compared to rival TVs. I'd like to see you create top quality audio in a 3" deep case!

I've mentioned this on another forum, but my mother decided to give up her old Sony CRT this December and bought a Samsung 40". Fair to say, the picture quality is superb. Even surprised me. However, the sound quality is not a patch on the BV10. No way near. It sounded tinny, at best.

I have my BV10 wall mounted on a solid 20cm thick brick wall. The sound is better wall mounted IMHO.

Hi Chris, the question was a direct one, what is the sound quality of a 10-40/46 compared to an Avant?  In my view, whether wall or floor mounted the Avant is far superior - Personally I would say that I prefer the tones and sound output of the Avant to the Beolab 7 range per se, my interest is in what the speaker atteched to the new Beovision 12 sound like too!

    Hi,

    actually I have a BV 10-40 (wall-mounted), a new BV 7-40 3D with Beolab 10. Before BV 7-40 3D I had an Avant for 13 years. My friend has a Samsung.

Let me evaluate the sound quality of these TV´s as follows (1 = poor; 10 = outstanding ):

    - Samsung: 1

    - BV 10-40: 4

    - Avant: 6

    - Beolab 10: 10

    Regards
