Lost thread: connecting BC2500 to BM7000

    Howdy!

I need help looking for a discussion thread, that I forgot to bookmark, and can't recall the title.

The idea was how to connect two Masters together via MCL.   Discussion stated to use a "cross connect cable", putting one end in the Aux socket of one system, and link socket in other.   The cable needed some particular wiring to make this work.  Again, the idea is to get the second "master" to work via MCL.

The original discussion may have been hooking a BM9000 to a BC2500 system.  My hope is to hook my BC2500 to my new(used) BM7000.

Yes, I know, one system will then work as the "AUX" for the master, but it is not reciprocated...or that is how I remember it

Anyone recall the thread?  It is a few years old, and I cannot find it.

    Thanks!

Thank you! Found: Lost thread: connecting BC2500 to BM7000

    Stefan,

Yes!  The first was the one I was looking for, and the others are quite informative for my plans.  Many thanks.

I also note that YOU were the author of the "solution" in the first thread.   Many thanks!

It is likely I will be asking some more related questions as I proceed with my setup.   I now have a new (to me) BM/BC/BG 7000 I hope to use as the Master systems with as set of BL8000.   I would like to link it to a BS2500, with as much "function" as possible.  I also have all the parts for and Active link kit, including ML/MCL, plus an AV7000.    From what I can tell, I am just a 4 speakers short of a three room system?

Thanks again for the assistance Stefan.

Re: Thank you! Found: Lost thread: connecting BC2500 to BM7000

Glad that you found your lost thread.  As I read you got no BG7000 CD? Just three devices of the BS7000?

You also have a lot of Masterlink stuff, but unfortunately BS7000 and BS2500 have no Masterlink. But if you want to use Masterlink you can add a Beolink converter 1611. ML-MCL converter is meant to use with a ML equipped audiomaster like BS9000, 3000, 4 ...to add "old" MCL link systems like MCL 2A, (Extra Speaker Kit), MCL 2AV.

More about: connecting BS2500 to BM7000

Sorry, I was unclear.  I have the 7000 master, CD, Cassette tape and remote.

I have been using a BS2500 with BL8000 speakers as my main system for years.  Hope to put the 7000 system in as the main room with the BL 8000 speakers, and move the 2500 to bedroom with it's currently unused speakers.

Your post makes me think I could hook the BS 2500 to the BM 7000 via MCL with the crossover connection you described.  Is that correct?   I do have one ML/MCL converter as part of a currently un-used "X-tra room active" kit.

I also have a AV7000 I would like to put into another room with my TV, but one step at a time.   I need to aquire speakers for  the AV system

    Thanks

Re: More about: connecting BS2500 to BM7000

Yes, you can use an MCL 2A for the bedroom as link system for your BS7000 and connect the outputs to AUX input of your BS2500.

BUT, as the MCL output is a speaker level output, you will need a Hi-Lo converter (speaker level to line level)for this setup. Here in Euroland it`s a 10-15 Euro device.

Or you can go the "Masterlink-way". Connect an AUDIO AUX LINK cable to AUX socket of your BS7000 (main system), then connect a Beolink converter (1611) and install a Masterlink cable from BL converter to the bedroom. Now connect a Beolink active incl. IR eye and set the link system to L.OPT 4. The Powerlink output should be connected to AUX socket of your BS2500. Powerlink output delivers a volume controlled line level signal.

Third way is to connect both systems via AUDIO AUX LINK with a special crossover wiring. Now you can listen to both systems in both rooms. But it`s not possible to control the systems from linkrooms. You need to add a device like a BL active or an MCL 2A.

I don`t think an ML-MCL converter will help in your setup. It`s meant to add an MCL link system to "newer", masterlink equipped audiosystems like BS9000, 32000, 3000, 4...

Sorry, I don`t know, what a "X-tra room active kit" is. Are you talking about a BL active?

And I have no experience with an AV7000. I think, it was an US-only product...(?)
