As a newbie to this forum please excuse me if this has already been asked/ answered previously.

I bought a second hand Beovision 7 - 32 (screen only) from B & O Nottingham (Type 9344 - made between 2006 and 2008). It was sold to me as an HD TV but is not the latest HDMI specced model. It does have a DVI  / component video input connections. I have connected up a full surround sound speaker system to it.

My question is might this require an upgrade to make my external Panasonic Blu Ray play full surround sound.  I have used a digital convertor for the digital sound output (optical  - coaxial) and component video for the picture. My local B&O dealer suggested that this might be the case.

Any thoughts would be most welcome as it seems likely to be an expensive upgrade if required.
