Peter - did you get to try one of the the Musical Fidelity DACs?

    Hi Peter,

I remember you went to try out a new Musical Fidelity CD player and discussed DACs with the people at the store. Did you ever end up trying one?

    No - I got a CD5500 instead!! Laughing

To be honest, the build quality of the MF didn't inspire me - I was much more impressed by the Naim system.

Did you get to listen to a fully-fledged Naim system while you were there? Naim + B&W = musical bliss Big Smile

The CD5500 also has the S/PDIF coax out, right?

Yes - I did look at a DAC afterwards on Ebay but they are still pretty expensive for something I will probably use very little. Still thinking though!

I thought I'd swayed you - forget the DAC, get a pair of BL5's a total solution in a box!

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

    Hi Peter

I am running an MF X-Dac solid build quality, with a Marantz 63 KI CD, it enables HDCD replay which is pretty sweet and detailed.

The X-Dac can be picked up for around 130 pounds or so on ebay.

    Kind regards

I was looking at the V3 version to go with my X-Cans V3 - seem rather more expensive!!
