New guy with a Beomaster 901

Just starting to get into vinyl and purchased a Beomaster 901 and wondered what beovox speakers work with it. Do different speakers have different connecters? I know that 1702s work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Almost all passive Beovox'es (or even all?) have matching DIN connectors - they were popular in Europe in 70s and 80s.

I can recommend S35, S45 and highly praised S45.2. They are all wonderful speakers and perform very well with 2x20W power (as your BM901).

nearly all Beovox has the 2 pin DIN connectors, 1 spade and one round, the spade is negative and the pin (round) is the positive (+), the BM 901 can drive nearly all of them, B&O recommended P 30, S 22, S25, but go bigger S45, S45-2, they all sound good with the 901, at the moment I use Beovox 3000 flat panel.

Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

And I've got them all (with stands), so if you're interested...Wink

    B&O item 1, B&O item 2, B&O item 3,...................B&O item 735

    Beovirus? What's that?

One last thing, would Beovox x25 (8 ohms) work with my 901?

Of course, nothing's stopping you from changing the DIN connectors to something else.

Welcome to Beoworld.  I have a pair of S45-2 and love them.  There's ALWAYS at least one pair for sale on Ebay in the US.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

Re: New guy with a Beomaster 901

The Cona didnt have 2 pin DIN connectors at all, just a bunch of binding terminals.

I remember Peter making very good comments on the S22 way back when. These are 'quiet' speakers here on the forum. Would like to hear about these.

The Cona is a subwoofer, and can be connected in different ways, my Bvoxs 3000 panels has binding posts.

Yes it is, I was just providing a little trivia.

Ahhh! yes the panels, my 5000s have binding posts as well. It seems I have more BeoVox with binding posts than DIN2! Laughing

No adapter, but a 2 pin DIN plug, to plug it into the 901.

CRD101, Please let me know how those speakers turn out, I am a huge Yamaha fan - especially bookshelf speakers. I highly recommend the NX-E150 speaker - brilliant.

This is what Soren is talking about \/

Re: New guy with a Beomaster 901

Decided not to ge the Yamahas and instead got a pair of Beovox S2200 for £30. Can't find much details about them online but I heard them before I bought them and they sounded good to a causal listener like me (although i'm sure someone will tell me they are worse than the X25s Laughing ). All set now with my 901, Beogram 1700 and s2200.

Thanks to everyone for your help and warm welcome.

That is technically impossible, so you should be all set now! Laughing

They are quite a bit younger than the BM901, but should otherwise be a good match and probably look fine together as well. Have fun!

Congratulations, thats the start, but now some bad news, you are open for the BeoVirus infection, you will now need to do this
and this and this, and then you will start getting the known symptons of the BeoVirus, you will frequently enter the auction sites looking for more Beo items, you will start counting your pocket money, and think about how much you can spend.LaughingLaughingLaughing

But as Rich mentioned, without pics it did not happen.

Re: New guy with a Beomaster 901

Well it all arrived today but there are a couple of problems....

1.) The 1700 has two RCA cables (one red, one black) and the 901 has two 5 pin-dins (I assume the Beogram plugs into the 'phono' port). I'm guessing I need an adapter but which one? There is also a thin black wire but the connector at the end has been cut off was this where the DIN once was? pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samlabone/6790861603/in/photostream

2.) It emits a slight scraping sound from the back of the turntable when a rotating like two things are rubbing together, any ideas what this could be? (http://www.flickr.com/photos/samlabone/6790853725/in/photostream/)

3.) I have no idea what to do with the weight of the pickup what should I set it to?

    And one last thing...would a MMC 20 S-R cartridge fit the 1700?
