Beocord 9000 not working - help needed

    HI

I have just been playing with my Beocord 9000 which has been in the attic for a long time when suddenly the tape will not move at all. The heads engage then disengage after about 2 secs. the fwd/rwd butons just make a click sound but thats all. all other displays seem ok.

    Update

I have lifted the front cover and found both belts stretched (think they have perished) so not engaging with the motor spindle. Also motor spindle not spinning round?

It seems like i need to source some new belts but what could be wrong with the motor?

Any suggestions would be most welcome

    thanks in advance

    Welcome to Beoworld !

The belts will have blocked the motor and possibly a fuse has blown.
Remove the remains of the old belts and see if the motor will run again.
If not, the fuse will have blown. It's very common.
I can supply new belts with mounting instructions etc.
(and also a fuse if need be).

Thank you Dillen for your prompt reply.

CAn you quote me for some new belts and a fuse, i am resident in the uk.

also, can you let me know where the fuse is as the motor still isnt working after removing the belts?

    thanks again

If my memory serves me right, the fuse sits at the bottom board right next to the transformer housing,
not far from where the large multiconnector from the mechanical section connects to the board.

You have a PM (check your inbox).

    Hi,

On my (early) Beocord 9000 there is no fuse, but a protection circuit instead.

Yes, that's correct. From serial number 2832001 there is a fuse.
You can feel if the motor will rotate by hand.
If it's stuck, it will have to be replaced which could end up a problem.

    Hi Martin

I have sent you some money via moneybookers which i have just noted you have received. With regards to the comment from Chintz re the early Beocord 9000 having a protection circuit and not a fuse the serial number of mine is 2673009. I can spin the motor spinde freely by hand so i am hoping it is not that? If mine does hav a protection circuit then how does that get reset?

    thanks

    It resets itself.
Do you have a multimeter ?
If you do, you can measure the voltage going to the motor, expect apprx. 12-14V.

On one of my Beocords 9000 the 7915 regulator (IC2) was dead, and the motor wasn't running. That's also worth testing!
