Gerrit explains just about everything in detail in his diaries (but you are still left with some questions!), as he has released regularily since he started working on it... well worth watching every episode IMO!
It is a shame they didn't show the rail terminal under the airport - stunning work with working scedule screens etc... and of course it connects up with the rest of Wunderland. Amazing to think this is all 1/87 scale!
Nice to think stuff like this could potentially inspire a whole new generation :)

The whole "Miniaturwunderland" is huge. Not only the installation itself but also the presense in the media etc here in Germany.

I've been a couple of times since they opened and have not tired of it. There is so much detail you can spend a day in there. (Probably better not to take the wife or girlfriend).
The backstage tour is a must, though I don't know if they do it in English. I'm looking forward to seeing the Airport, they last time i went about a year ago they were still working on it. They were also working on automating the boats in the Harbour scene but were having problems with accuracy. At the time they were still being controlled manually.
Oh yes and when in Hamburg don't miss the Reeperbahn!
