    Beovision 10-40 v. Beovision 7-40

    Mates,

Does anyone here have any experience with either of these?

I think I can get either for about the same type of money. . .

I'm just kind of looking in to adding a new panel in to the mix.

It will go in the master suite area and be connected to lab8k and a lab2

I will not be purchasing a center channel if I go with the 7-40

I'm ready for something new that I actually want to buy!

I had a similar dilema and chose Bv7 mk3 for the bs3 system

    Re: Beovision 10-40 v. Beovision 7-40

Are you choosing between a new BV7-40 and a BV10-40 (I assume new and with contrast screen)?

Do you need the BlueRay inbuilt or do you already have or want to buy an external player?

With BV10 you have a sleeker screen with a perfect wall mounting solution. You have lots of connections and nice inbuilt speaker system.

With BV7 you have the advantage of BS3...

I think I would go for the BV10 and take the BL8 as stereo speakers for Audio with BV10 as Center. YOu you have a nice 3.1 system.

    BeoVision 8-40 / BeoVision 8-32 / Beovision 6-26 / BeoSound 3200 / BeoSound 1 / BeoLab 3 /  Beolab 6000 / Beolab 2000 / Beoport / Beomedia 1 / 3* Beo4 /BeoCom 5 with VOIP

I'm still going through the motions of the same problem. How will Beosystem 3 improve my normal day to day viewing?

A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

I do not see many advantages of the Beo System 3 build into the BV7 compared to the build in functionality on a BV10 if you have a small system (say 5 speakers, blu-ray, game console, TV).

However, just like the  separate BS3 in a large setup, I believe you see a lot of value if you grow the system:

    • if you need more than basic Dolby 5.1 digital sound support the BS3 offers more up to Dolby 7.1 EX (among others)
    • Support for up to 12 speakers in multiple zones
    • Connector for external video projecter
    • Lot of additional connections for all type of gear
    • ....

    Re: Beovision 10-40 v. Beovision 7-40

I have just upgraded from an Avant to a BV10 and extremely happy with both the picture which is stunning and sound.  I did have reservations with the sound from the BV10 but it is in my setup very good and I have had the volume up for some movies.  The setup includes BL8000 and a BL2 in a 3.5 x 4.5mtr room with high ceilings.  As others have pointed out BV7s BS3 really isn’t required unless you will take advantage of its additional features

    BV10, AvantDVD, BS3000, BL8000, BL6000, BL4000, BL3500, BeoPorts, BC9300, BC7002, CX100s, C75s, Beo4s, BC6000s, LC2s, A9, A8s,

    Re: Beovision 10-40 v. Beovision 7-40

I was close, very close, to "upgrading" from my BV7-40 MKIV to a BV10-46. I still might, if and when the BV10-55 is released!

The only thing that put me off was the sound. Having downgraded from a BL7.4+BL9 setup to a BL7.2, the BV10 in comparison is very weak. I was watching a movie on Friday night and was fairly amazed how powerful the 7.2 can be, as a speaker, with the right audio source.

For me, the audio experience is as much about watching the TV as the video. No point having stunning visuals and average audio.

Problem is, the BV7-55 is way out of my price range and there's no BV7-46, so I'm kind of stuck with what I've got. Confuses me why B&O haven't brought out a BV7-46.

    Harry2008:

    • Lot of additional connections for all type of gear

Are you sure about that? One of the biggest problems of the BV7-40 is that two of the HDMI sockets are used for internal devices - the Blu-ray player and the HD module.

The BV10 is an excellent piece of equipment.

Stunning picture, and good sound. It looks fabulous too. Much more modern than the BV7.

Maybe I ought to consider using my BL3s with a BV10-46? That might be an option for improved sound.

I am using the BV10 with the BL3 and the BL11 and the sound is very good. Absolutely worth to check it out at tour dealer .

I love the BV10 too although I was amazed to hear today that the BV 32 does not have the connections for surround speakers. Is this really correct?

Yes, that's correct: have a look at: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/specifications?productid=733

    BV10-32 only 2 Powerlink connections

That's pretty disappointing as the 32 inch would work for my room and I would still want the surround sound option. I assume there is a logical explanation!

Do you know what the price difference is between the 40 and the 32?

Having seen the 10 in the flesh i have to say it looks MUCH better than on the printed page / internet.

    Stunning bit of kit.

I understood your dealer can install the surround sound module of the BV10-40 into the BV10-32. Everything should work fine.

Thanks Harry, very interesting. I wonder if anyone here has done that or has experience of such an installation? Thanks

    Re: Beovision 10-40 v. Beovision 7-40

The speakers in the BV10-32 are not the same as the BV10-40 - you lose the centre woofer and sound box. I am afraid I am still not impressed with the sound quality of the BV10 - yes it is better than a Samsung etc, but it does not begin to compare with a BV5. Sounds like Bose with no presence, just lots of top end giving a 'detailed ' sound and some bass at the bottom end. It is however the best looking TV in the range.

Just spoken to a dealer who has explained that it is not possible to install the surround sound module. For £4500, that's a slight downer!

Wouldn't that be be complimented with the addition of a BL11 subwoofer? Indeed, you could hide the BL11 behind the BV10!

But who would want to hide a BL11? It's gorgeous!
