Hi Roy and welcome to Beoworld.

I asked the same question - but in reverse.  I had some spare S45.2 bass units and a pair of S40s with foam rot.   Basically the answer is 'no', but here is a link to that thread, with answers from some of the very knowledgable and helpful people on this site.

Did you put the S45 woofers in the S40?

    Peter,

I resisted the temptation, or more accurately took Martin's advice to re-foam the originals.  That job is currently on an ever-increasing list of 'projects' along with a BM 1001 needing work, a second pair of S45.2s that need new capacitors and a base driver (hence not testing in the s40s),  re-veneering the rosewood trim on the BM 8000 and BC 9000 where its starting to go a bit, and trying to sort the hinges on the two covers of my old BC 4000 - the piece that started all this obsessive behaviour.

The otherway around have the s45 ( not the-2 model ) and need woofers for it, have been searching a long time with no luck and found some fromthe s40 that need refoamed, wanting to use in the s45 if the same.

Part number on the s45 woofer is 0285091 from the schematics/parts list someone sent me, but cant find parts list for the s40 to see if it is the same.

B & O no real help asked them, all they did was send the overall specs. of the 2, gave them the s45 woofer part number, figured they could look it up and compare...

If no one really knows what other model has same woofer as the original s45, not the -2 Does anyone have aset of s45 woofers for sale, I can refoam them if needed assuming can get a refoam kit for them.

    Thanks,

    Roy

re-veneering the rosewood trim on the BM 8000 and BC 9000 where its starting to go a bit

I had not realised that the veneer on the 8000 was going - the BC9000 was originally teak but Tim and I changed the surround for that of a rosewood 8004. It probably means that the sticker on the back will have the wrong trim code, thinking about it!

Re: s40 woofer same as the s45?

There are no less than three different types of Beovox S45.

The woofer in Beovox S45 Type 6427 (two-way system) will suffer from foam rot if not already refoam'ed.
This woofer has B&O part no. 8480158, it's a 6,4 Ohm woofer unique to the Beovox S45 and S55.
The woofers are repairable and I have a pair for sale, refoam'ed and ready to mount.

The woofer in Beovox S45 Type 6302 and Beovox S45-2 Type 6312 (both three-way systems)  is a Peerless with B&O part no. 8480114 and is unique for those models. It has a rubber surround so will not rot but the magnet tends to losen and the coil will be locked.
The woofer in Beovox S40 (and Beovox S35-2 plus the latest revision of Beovox S35) is a Philips AD 80652 W4 (or AD 80651 W4) with B&O part no. 8480135.
This woofer can have either rubber or foam surround, both types are found.

They are all 8 inch woofers, but that's about as far as they compare.
The rest of their T/S values are completely different so they will not be interchangeable without drastically changing the sound reproduction.
I haven't found any modern replacements that comes just close.

    Peter,

The 8000 has a portion of the front panel veneer bubbling and the side panels have tiny bits of veneer missing at the rear corners.  This would have been hidden in the SC80, but is very visible out in the open.  The 9000 has a small piece chipped from both front corners due to an adventurous cat and an angry owner!   I knew about the replacement trim - the photo on Beocentral shows the original teak.  It's working well, by the way - recording live concerts off-radio, the results are the best I've heard from cassette tape.
