Switching between active & passive speakers on a Beocenter 9500

I am using my BeoCenter 9500 with a pair of CX 100s in my dining room, but am tempted to buy a pair of BL 4000s to replace the CX100s and use the CX 100s in the kitchen, but still directly connected to the Beocenter.  The rooms are connected via a large archway and I can run the passive speaker cables, hidden behind existing cabinets, to where I would like to locate the CXs.  Then I realised I may have a problem.  I can't see a way of listening to one set of speakers without having the other ones 'live' as well.

How can I switch between the two sets of speakers, allowing me to listen to just one set - depending whether I'm eating or cooking - without shutting off the power to the Beolabs or disconnecting the CXs?

I suppose you are looking for an MCL2A box & an IR transceiver for the CX's in the kitchen.

If the archway is very open, you might have a problem with remote commands "leaking" from one room to the other.

Agree - MCL2A and set it to Option 4 so you press LINK before it will accept a command.

How many systems  do you have working now!?

    Hi Peter,

3 permanently and all independent in separate rooms.  Your old 8000 system as the main system (the volume control on the BM works now and the heatsinks aren't overheating - TJ sorted it) alternating with your old 4400/BG 1700/MMC20EN/S45.2s; the BC9500 with CX100s and my original BS 2500.  The BL 4000 are only being considered as someone has offered me pair as a swap for the BS 2500.

My original plan (to have the BM 4400 fully restored by Frede to go with a mint BG 4000 I had my eye on) has had to be postponed as the future is looking very uncertain at the moment with public sector cutbacks.
