    LX2500 and a freeview box

Due to the change to digital tv I have had to buy a Eco Zapbox and connect it to my LX2500.  Unfortunately, although the green power light is on in the Zapbox, the box does not search or indeed do anything.  I do not have the original remote, but use a new one which I got for my BeoSound 1. This remote seems to work on the LX2500's five analoge channels, but does not seem to have any buttons for aux/1 or similar.  I know that this is very low tech, but unless I can get freeview to work this lovely set will soon be useless.

So if anyone has any advice or suggestions, do please let me lnow.

    Many thanks.

    Hello Villarsch,

Is the remote a Beo4 or Beolink 1000?

I think that the remote is a Beo4.  Incidentally, I get very good digital tv on my computer, which uses the same aerial.

I assume you have the box connected to the scart input on the LX and switched on. To 'open' the scart and see the box output press "shift TV" or vtape/vmem on the remote. If it's a Beo4 (LCD screen) you might have to put V.Aux or V.Aux 2 into the list to make it work.

I have got the Beo4 to show AV., but it does not have any effect on the tv.  Should I try something else?

V.tape etc. won't work on an LX2500. The right sequence to open up the scart is <shift> <TV> <2> on Beolink 1000.

If you have a Beo4 I  believe you must press V.AUX <2>. You get V.AUX by pressing <LIST> until the display reads V.AUX and then press <GO>.

If V.AUX is not in the <LIST>-list, you must add it by pressing the standby button and <LIST> simultaneously and then choose ADD? and then choose V.AUX.

If I remember correctly, that is!

    Vtape does'nt work?

"AV" in this case is for use with an audio system.

Press list and see what other commands are loaded. You may need to press the standby (red) and list button on the Beo4 at the same time. Using the step and "go" buttons use "add". You should be able to scroll through a list of commands which can be programmed into the Beo4. Add the command "v.aux" by pressing go when it appears in the LCD screen. Access it by pressing "list" until it appears followed by "go". You could also add V.Aux 2 and and V.tape 2. I am more familiar with the later LX4500 model but Im sure the LX2500 should respond to either v.tape v.tape 2 v.aux or v.aux2. You certainly do not need to get rid of the TV!

I have got V.Aux shown on the Beo4, and pressing Go lights the two "stereo" sound lights, but unfortunately there is no response from the Eco Zapbox.  Perhaps a further command is required?

Nope! Because the LX2500 and LX2800 were not sold with the Beolink 1000, they were sold with the V terminal. So there were no V.TAPE button!

There are 3 AUX inputs on those sets: 1 is the audio input from a stereo, 2 is the Scart and 3 is the 6pin DIN A/V input. On the Beolink 1000 you access them by pressing <SHIFT> <TV> and then the right number. If i remember correctly <SHIFT><TV> is the same as V.AUX on Beo4. So to access the scart with Beo4, press V.AUX and then 2.

It wasn't until the later models (LX2502 and LX2802) that V.TAPE was introduced.

Try pressing the number 2 after you have pressed Go!

Re: LX2500 and a freeview box

Many thanks to david707 and mhw.  Our much-loved LX2500 can now show numerous digital channels.  This confirms a) that Beoworlders are very helpful and b) that a B&O tv bought in 1987 ( albeit with a new tube 10 years ago) continues to provide an exellent picture.

    Again, many thanks
