    Playing Ripped CDs on Overture

    Hi All

Just found out an interesting issue. My B&O overture won't play ripped CDs (laser mechanism track is straight). However, I have an older BeoGram 4500 CD and it plays ripped CDs (the laser track mechanism is in an arc). Also my older Century plays ripped CDs (the laser mechanism track is straight).

    What's going on? Any ideas?

It could be on the way of going out, but don't worry about that in advance. CD-Rs are more difficult to read, and many CD players - even if they are in complete working order - are temperamental with them.

You might try different brand blanks, and often it helps to burn the CDs at less than their maximum rated speed. Apparently the end result is optically better quality then.

All my Cd players including 3 Overtures play ripped CDs but only if burned on either 1x or 2x speed.

You may try this way. For me it really worked.

As Spiros has said reducing the burn speed makes a huge difference. Personally I use x8 and all my B&O will play the ripped cd's.
