HELLO THERE. Ive recenctly saved an Avant from suffering a horrible ending of going to the local tip, not to my wifes pleasure i add. I couldnt see this wonderful piece destroyed for ever. But im somewhat confused as it powers up wonderful but with a red cast over the picture. Heres the interesting bit though i have on a couple of occasions powered it up and the grey scale is perfect mush? tv.

My old friend was some 50 years in TV but has sadly thrown his hand in and gone to selling old books therefore im rather stumped as he had the tube meters etc, i have heard that this model is prone to tube failure?? but im still wondering of the times that i got wonderful black and white mush, ive basicaly checked for dry joints and the rest have you any ideas please.
