    Help!! - Option Settings

    Hi

Some help would be much appreciated

I have an Beosound 3000 in my living room connected to an MX4500 and VX5000 via a datalink converter - ML link cable to 7 pin din. I have a an MX3500 in my bedroom and bought another datalink cable - 7Pin Din and a Y link datalink cable to joing the two data link cables into the converter box - the theory being that I should be able to watch videos and listen to CD and radio in the bedroom.

I just don't know what the option settings should be on each product - I can operate the TV and stereo in the main room fine but not the video from the link room - does anyone know what option settings I should use - currently I have 1 on both living room products and 6 in the bedroom - or is the problem more fundamental in that the VX5000 is not link compatible or there's a setting on it - it doesn't seem to pause when I switch to sat or tv after it has been playing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind Regards

     Andrew

on MX3500 you need to use "AV"

    ex. "AV"+"Radio" and "AV"+"CD"

The CD and Radio work fine - it's getting the Video to play - tried link video link and then tuning to channel 39 but that doesn't seem to work as when I press it again the screen is fuzzy but does show the vcr menu when I press link vcr.

OK you need to set channels 40,41,42,43,44 to the VCR freq. maybe 599, or start VCR and tune it in on it (mx3500).

your TV (MX4500) and VCR may need a SW update to show anything else then vcr...

Hi thanks - cool tried that and I managed to get the TV tuned in so that when I press VCR I get the Video frequency - just wondering why I can't control the VCR - I'll check cables and stuff but suspect I might need the software update then - do you know if I'm using the right options?

the option is right (MX4500-1 and MX3500-6)

I don't know the vx5000 that well, if you pull the scart cable out can you then control the vcr by the remote (at the MX4500)?

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

I think I've sussed it - perhaps I need to connect the MX3500 through it's own data link converter into the Master Link as I can't seem to get the sound by doin AV VCR AV through the stereo - I seem to remember it's one way or something - and sets itself when you power the whole system off and on - also there's no control of the VCR from the link room - any thoughts?

I have seen it work the way you have linked it, but like to know if the VCR is controlled by the scart cable or has its own Ir receiver

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

Hi - thanks for the replies - I pulled the scart cable out and it doesn't work at all so assume it's controlled by the TV - the odd thing is that if you switch to TV or sat it doesn't stop the VCR - also switcing off the TV doesn't stop the VCR unless you hold the off button on the remote off - do you think it could be something to do with the VCR - I've tried configuring it for AV2 and tried plugging the datalink cable directly from the MX3500 to the LX4500 - still no joy!

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

Hi it says S/W 1.5s on the back - could this be the problem? - I would of thought it would be capable of being linked to the other TV as they're roughly the same age.

I'm wondering if it could be the video or a setting on the MX3500 - although that works fine with the stereo

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

Just tried doing av vtape av and the sound doesn't come through the stereo either - wonder if it is the software - the MX3500 is 2.25 - would swapping them over work? so that the LX is in the bedroom and MX in the living room? if it did could the software chips be swapped?

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

    Hello again

I must be missing something here - tried to find a manual for the MX3500 or setup for the other bits on the site, but they're not there.

I've managed to get control of the stereo via the mx3500 by setting it to Option 2

The LX and BS are set to option 1

I can get sound from the BS through the LS by doing AV Radio AV but no sound going the other way from the VCR or satellite or control of the VCR from the MX3500

Am I using it wrongly? if I set the MX3500 to option 6 I can't control the bs or the vcr

I'm at the end of my tether with this!

    HI

the user manual, says it has to be higher then 2,1 to work whit VX5000, so i think thats the problem...

thy and connect the VCR to MX3500 and see if it works fine!!!

In option 6 Use "AV" and it will work (only AV + RADIO not AV + RADIO + AV)

    Re: Help!! - Option Settings

Hi - I think you're right - can now use the radio and cd using AV, I'll try hooking the VCR upto the MX tonight and see if that works too - looks like it is the software chip - I'll ask my dealer if it's possible to still get an upgrade chip or wonder if anyone else has one from a broken set?

Do you think it's possible to swap the chips between the LX and MX as the MX has 2.25 or is that likely to mess things up?

Thank you so much for your help

    Kind Regards
