Hi,
Does anyone know how to use the VGA connector on the back of an Avant US, type 8490?
I want to connect my Mac to the set and watch movies via iTunes. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
John

I have the same model. Are you asking about the yellow video composite cable and the red/white audio cables?
Hi John,
The 15-pin VGA socket on the Avant/US is an output for a projector, not an input. To use a Mac you will need an adaptor which ends up in either a 3- or 5- connector RGB/Component video cable. You will also have ot set the Mac's output to 16:9 480p. Literally nothing else will work. On the other hand there are several outboard processors which can convert the Mac's output to composite and S-video which would allow you to use one of the other inputs.

Thanks for the info! What mode is the set available to use the component video input? V.AUX?

STB, SAT, or V. Aux.
Hi Russ,
Thanks for the reply. One last question. Will a cable like this one work?

Or, is there more involved in converting the signal?
