Red Line speakers 60.2 and stands do not seem to match

    Hi,

I would need some advise on the following. I have a pair of RL 60.2 speakers and a pair of (to what I believe) correct stands.

I have placed the speaker on the stands but are not 100% satisfied. The speakers are tilting downwards as if not mounted correct.

Please see below pictures. Is this indeed a mismatch or am I doing something wrong.

    All input is appreciated.

There's supposed to be an adjustment screw for that.
The original screw had a thick rubber-covered head to bump against the flat vertical head
of the floorstand but less will also do.
If I remember correctly it should sit in the hole at the center of the
bracket at the back of the speaker. At the lower flange of the bracket.

I wish I would have known that! I had a pair of RL 60.2s also. I ended up using some old 1" dowell rod sections as spacers - worked very, very well!

I searched them for adjustment but couldn't find any. Also, the stamped piece of the stand seemed to be bent forward.

Hi Dillen, if I understand correct this adjustment screw would stick out on the inside of the sepaker bracker, right? In that way I can imagine that via the screw the speaker will be pushed into right direction.

If the spacers would be placed on the outside of the bracket (in between bracket and speaker stand, the speaker would be hanging 'floating' with space between speaker and bracket?

Here is my solution. This is a side view, it isn't to scale at all so don't be too critical! The spacers are only as long as the width of the top of the stand.

All you need is a M5 flat head set screw/bolt & stick a rubber or felt pad to the head. Screw it into the bottom hole of the metal plate that surrounds the square hole where the cables enter the speakers - job done.

Re: Red Line speakers 60.2 and stands do not seem to match

Spot-on advice from others, but I have to say Ferdinand it is a pretty obvious solution to the problem to insert some type of spacer/adjuster at the lower end of the bracket to bring the speakers up to the desired angle.

Not trying to be personal, but I don't think it takes much working out.

Good luck anyway. If they are in good working condition then I think they are fine speakers.

    Wait a minute fella...!,

Ferdinand has a perfectly valid question & highlights 'a pretty obvious' design omission in the design of these stands in the first place...!

These stands were not designed upto B&O standards in my opinion - a built-in device incorporated into the stands to allow the speaker angle to be user-selected should have been the standard - from a brand such as B&O.

The fact that we are talking about 'heath robinson' solutions, using this & that for spacers etc. rather proves that point.

Re: Red Line speakers 60.2 and stands do not seem to match

I know the spacers seem like a lot of work, I just happened to have some spare dowell rod in the garage. My stands didn't have the adjustment screws, so it wasn't that obvious.

They had one. It's not B&O's fault that people lose them.

There's nothing 'heath robinson' in screwing a bolt into a ready made thread. Just as designed.

I'm perfectly aware they had a bolt with a rubber covered head originally thank you. I have had numerous pairs of stands over the years both with & without the original 'bolt through a hole'....

I was merely pointing out that this (in my opinion) was not the best of designs from a brand reknowned for superb design - and I was also defending the OP who was asking a perfectly reasonable question regarding the directional angle of his 60.2's and who then had a rather rude response from some dude in Spain.

Think out of the box a little - these stands could have been originally designed with various directional options built into the stand device itself (think height/rotation/tilt etc. like some of the more recent TV's stand capabilities) - rather than a simple bolt sticking out of the back....which more often than not got lost...resulting in people then sourcing other methods of compensating for the lost bolt adjustment by using there own spacers etc. etc.

Hi guys, thanks for all the input, appreciated.

@Kokomo, The solution brought up wasn't that difficult to think of myself. Still I was in disbelief that this would be the perfect solotion. As imho it would place/push the speakers away from the stand (see bracket on 3rd picture). I will give it it a try and send some new pictures tomorrow.

So where the RL stands with a single cylindrical upright, as opposed to the two squared off uprights for a different speaker (i.e. not 60's) then?

The single pole stands are a later model, introduced at the same time as the updated RL<lots of digits> series I believe. They are still fully interchangeable as long as the mounting plate is the same size (RL140/7000 use the bigger plate, the others the smaller one).
