Beocenter 7700 new to me. Before & After cleaning.

Picked this up today and spent a few hours cleaning it.

Love the look of this and it sounds great, despite only having a modest 40wattsx2.  The turntable has a nice mmc4 cartridge and works with just the touch of a button the remote!

Just the tape deck doesn't work - I expect a belt is to blame.

    "Before shot"

Corrosion in the battery bay of the remote.

The remote!  It takes 6 AA batteries :)

Nifty feature.  Rear panel hinges up for easy access to connections.

I love the BC7700 & always regret parting with mine. Alas, lack of space meant it had to sadly go.

Yours looks a beauty, the cassette deck problem is almost certainly the belts. Martin (memeber Dillen) can supply new ones.

    Chris.

The first B&O I ever bought - nice memories, wonderful sound. Hmmm - I'd forgotten about the six AA-batteries!

Congratulations with a job well done.

Chris, do you know how much effort is involved to change the belts in the 7700?  I'm quite proficient, but I know some of the B&O stuff can be tricky and time consuming to get into.

    Cheers

Not too difficult as these can be put into a service position which makes access to the cassette section very straightforward. It's just a matter of removing a few screws to do this.

    Chris.

Mounting instructions with photos and (english) text can be included with the belts.
It's a 30 minute job and all you need is a philips type screwdriver or two.
There can be other faults than the belts but if the belts were not already replaced, they
definitely would need so by now. Can you hear the motor run if you load a tape, put your
ear to the Beocenter and press TAPE ?

    Nice looking Beocenter !
That design is so timeless, I'm still amazed.
No offense but compare to the pile in the background.  Laughing
It doesn't look 25+ years old, does it ?

No offense taken!  Most of the B&O stuff certainly has that 'timeless' element to its design that withstands the test of time - certainly better than 99% of the other gear produced around that time.

I'm refoaming the S45 (2-way model) speakers today and really like their look.   Although I've heard the sound is not as good as the later 3 o way design.

Martin - can you PM the cost of the belts.  I'm be in Holland for the month of October, so I could have them posted there.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the instructions.  Love how easy it is to open!  And there's even a stand to keep it open.  Thanks B&O!

Confirmed the suspicion -the belts are black goo now.

I made some more progress today and got the TT cover fixed back in place with some double sided tape.
