    Beosystem 1 Questions

Very basic questions about Beosystem 1

    1. Is Beosystem 1 an amplifier and also does AV processing. I guess the question is do i need an amplifier output into beosystem 1

    2. could I connect beovox RL 60.2 to it directly

    3. Does Beosystem 1 enhances the Audio and Video if so what does it do.

    Thanks

    Re: Beosystem 1 Questions

    1. No the beosystem1 is no amplifier but an AV processor only.

    2. In order to connect RL60.2 you'll need a seperate amp unit like the MCL2p or ML/MCL convertor.

    3. The beosystem is mainly a unit that connects and controls all other B&O and non-B&O sources.(sat box, dvd player etc)
It mainly enhances (standard def) video very well. Not sure if it does really enhances the audio that much...

You'd have to be in a pretty desperate situation to welcome one of these into your home. You'd be better off plugging the wires into a tree stump.

    Ouchhh...thats a very harsh statement on a B&O prodcut.

    Is Beosystem 1 that BAD!!

Its certainly very heavy for a product doing nothing but video enhancement....may be some surround processing

Any current users please mention any uses of Beosystem 1

    Re: Beosystem 1 Questions

Let me qualify a little bit.

If you actually have a BeoVision 4 with the proper card to accept the 15-pin to RGBVH connection then you might have an alright time of it. Forget, however, attempting to attach this cast-iron furnace to any other screen.

If you read my posts you'll know that I'm frequently among the minority in supporting some of B&O's more "exotic" products, but this one is truly not worth the trouble if you're piecing together a system, which it sounds like you are. If you can't get the BeoSystem 3 or one of the current TVs with all these goodies built in, just grab a good HD receiver with plenty of inputs and outputs and you'll be happier than if you tangled with the black beast.

I understand where you are coming from.

How is this systems sound processing capabilities - if i decided to use it for only the surround/home theater set-up

    Thanks
