    Beomaster 1900-2 Volume Control Issue

    Hi everyone,

    I have been given a Beomaster 1900-2 Tuner/Amplifier by a nextdoor neighbour.

It all works with the exception of the volume control.

All of the lights are working its just that the touch sensitive buttons, well, arn't!

Every other function works, all bass/treble/balance sliders are noise free, its perfect, except for this little issue.

I can control the volume using the volume preset, just not the buttons.

    It is serial # 1868030

I have it apart on my bench and I cannot see anything visible wrong with the volume control board

I've searched the forums but cannot find a fix for it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to get this old beast working properly.

    Cheers

Could be that it wasn't put together correctly, that's very common.
Does the volume respond if you touch the little pins (or their solder joints on the backside)
with your finger (it should) ?

Yikes, I'll try now, years of meddiling with electronics taught me not to do that!Stick out tongue

    I'll see how that goes.

Nope, no such luck, also since taking it apart and putting it together, 4 bulbs have blown Sad

I'll have to get some from somewhere.

    Any other little tricks?

Good attitude !  Yes - thumbs up
As long as you only touch the sensor pins you'll be fine, trust me.
There are no high voltages near the pins.
Keep the other hand on your back while touching.

Aging capacitors are causing a lot of faults in these lovely machines.
A quite comprehensive kit is available (from me), but it does require a good
amount of soldering to replace the lot. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that there is
another (or more) fault(s) in your Beomaster but the caps would be a good place to start.
A lamp kit is also available.

Well, it depends on the age old question 'ow much? Big Smile

I'm handy enough with a soldering iron, i read about the capacitors giving trouble so i guess that's the next logical step.

How much is it for a lamp and cap kit? And how much to post to the UK?

    Cheers
