Display color BV7-40 changed from red to white after MKII. Why???

I bought a new BV7-40 MKII in summer 2006. Still very pleased with it's quality (we only use analog cable) and the speed of the DVD player inside. Never had any problems with it, very happy customer. Just to compare with the newer models of the BV7, I had a look at my dealer and discovered that the new built-in Blu Ray DVD player is much slower (it felt like the DVD2 disaster product that took ages to start up) and more shocking for me, the display in the right corner of the screen is now white! Yes it sounds crazy, but this would put me of buying an new BV7-40. Mine is positioned next to a BeoSound 9000 and I also have a old BeoSystem 4500 and a Beosystem 7000 with a Beolink 7000 on a floor stand in the same room. They all match perfectly together, since they all have red displays that are so clearly B&O. My dealer told me that the red display is no longer available on the BV7. Is that untrue or is B&O really disappointing me?

Yes, that's true. I'm not sure why they took away the red filter over the display. Perhaps it was done to match their newer products like the BeoSound 4. The red display makes better sense because it is easier on the eyes in a dimly lit room (like when watching movies).

I'm not sure if this can be done, but you may be able to have someone add a red filter between the LED and the contrast screen. Most LED displays like the one on the BeoSound 9000 and the old BeoVision 7-40 are white with a thin, plastic red film laid over it. Simply add the red filter yourself, and the "problem" is solved.

BeoVision 7-55 3D, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound 8, BeoLab 7-6, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, LC-1, BeoTime (analog clock), Form 1 headphones, Beo 4 remote.

Thanks for the info! But still it seems strange to me that I have to go around to change the color with a red filter on a 11.000,- Euro television. They should be able to do that in Denmark as an extra service.

It is true... Most of the new musicsystems have white displays.   Look at BeoSound 4 (white display) BeoCenter 2 (white display).

But not all new TV's have white displays. BeoVision 8 and BeoVision 10 doesnt even have displays..!

    Confusing...Hmm
