    BV10 Software Update Problem

    Hi all

I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to update the DVB-HD software on my BV10. I've downloaded it from the B&O website, put on a USB stick, followed the installation instructions and received a message along the lines of:

" The server or USB stick is not responding. Please try again in ten seconds."

I did of course, but no luck. The light on the USB flashes when inserted, so the port appears to be working. I've tried three different USB sticks.

Is there a special way to save the update file to the USB stick? I unzipped the folder and simply transferred them to the USB.

    Puzzling...any ideas?

    Stuart,

Did you put the UNZIPPED files in the "root" directory of the USB stick ? The root directory is the top directory, so must NOT be in a sub-directory.

    The actual instructions are:-

    1. Press DTV* on your remote control and wait for picture.
    2. Insert USB key in the USB socket
    3. Press MENU to bring up the menu overlay
    4. Press 4 to open the SETUP menu
    5. Use the arrow buttons to move to OPTIONS and press GO
    6. Use the arrow buttons to move to SOFTWARE UPDATE and press GO
    7. Press the green button to check for new software. Text appears on the screen, if new software is available
    8. If no new update is found, try to press the green button again
    9. Press the green button to start the software update
    10. During the update, the text: “DOWNLOADING, STORING SOFTWARE, DO NOT SWITCH OFF YOUR TELEVISION” appears on the screen
    11. Wait for text: “UPDATE HAS FINISHED, PLEASE REMOVE USB MEMORY STICK, SWITCH YOUR TELEVISION TO STANDBY” or if this message does not appear, just wait for the progress bar to disappear. If colours appear on the screen after the progress bar has disappeared, do not switch the television to standby before the screen has turned green
    12. Remove the USB key and switch the television to standby
    13. Now press DTV* again to switch on the television. The module will make an automatic tuning. Your channel and station lists are not deleted with this tuning
    14. Update is complete. *Note: If you have disabled the internal TV tuner, and usually activate the DVB-HD module by pressing TV, press TV instead.

    Hi Keith

I did all of the above, but maybe I missed something. Does the USB have to be empty of all files save the Software Update?

    Thanks anyway

I would definitely use a newly formatted, otherwise blank stick.

What size sticks have you tried? Uses like this often have some kind of limitations on the size of the stick (or more appropriately, the cluster size of the file system on them). It might only work with sticks at most, say, 2GB or 4GB. The file system type (FAT vs. FAT32) might make a difference as well.

Yes, the USB key must only contain the update for DVB-HD module.

Thanks for all of the suggestions - still a work in progress I'm afraid.

There are two packages on the download 01.470 and 01.450. Are both part of the install or should I only be using one?

    Cheers

    Re: BV10 Software Update Problem

    Hi Futurist,

if you want to update your DVB-HD T/C module of your BV10, you have to copy the following two files on your USB-stick (the unzipped download contains four files):

    1. 9100260_SW_DVB_HD_MODULE_08_01.470.fpkg

    2. 6020init.txt

The other two files are for updating the DVB-HD S module.

    Hope it works!

As well as Rauber's correct points, apparently B&O have only tested the USB port on the Beovision 10 using a Kingston USB stick !!

In case it is related to the format of your stick, you may wish to format your stick before adding the files.

    Re: BV10 Software Update Problem

Thanks again guys. Two more questions:

    1. Which DVB-HD module do I have (T/C or S -  not sure what these stand for) - I'm in Australia and it came pre-installed.

    2. Which format should the USB be in? FAT?

    Appreciate your help

    Hi Stuart,

    1. T/C means terrestic or cable, S satellit.

    2. FAT is ok.

BV10 now successfully updated. I must say, it was very particular in its requirements...

    Thanks all.
