avant vs the stb! and im pulling my hair out!

i have an avant 32" 100hz with a built in STB. now im fairly new to STB's and how they work.

i have an ariel that is connected to the satellite dish,

which works just fine on my other avant in the bedroom (this one has a free to air box attatched) i could do with some help setting the STB up if you all would be so kind to help out!

please correct me if im wrong but doesnt a built in STB work the same as an FTA box would?

would be a shame to have a built in STB and not be able to use it.

i was formely nokinnikon back in the early Y2k! some may remember!

    many thanks

Now have you got the sat module or a set top box controller? Cheers Nick

Hi Jason, I do remember your old username from when I first found Beoworld. Do you mean the Avant has a built in STB controller? If so, all this does is allow control of certain STB's with your Beo4 remote. If you look on the rear of your Avant, you should see what looks like a 3.5mm headphone socket. This is where you connect the lead with the IR emitter on it. That attaches to your STB.

If it is a sat module do you have to put a viewing card in there at all?  Also do you need to connect the module to a dish? Cheers Nick

no slot for a card, just the 2 antenna ports and the IR output plus a little white switch stating on/off and ATT.

that is it, oh of course the old TV ariel port.

Re: avant vs the stb! and im pulling my hair out!

ok set up my fortec star digi box to the avant, plugged into the decoder scart port works as per norm.

connected the IR to the avant and got the list up of stb's and mine is not on it. gutted, is there a way around it to get my specific branded digibox to work? i have given up trying to work the internal module but if anyone knows please ping me on here.

    cheers
