    Beogram 8002

I have beogram 8002, the stylus moves to place but will not drop onto the record. It seems the play and stop buttons do not work. Any ideas?

I think I am right in saying that there is a solenoid that controls the arm drop and when this fails, the arm simply stays up. I take it that there is no click when you press the play button once the arm is over the record? The service manual is on site.

    Peter,
Since subject came up I thought I would add a few other issues for my own bidding;-
I have just purchased a yankie 110v 8002 (started on the sad path of collecting older stuff for fun). A couple of questions?
    1. Who can service this deck.
    2. Can the internal 110v transformer be easily replace for a 220v input transformer. are parts available?
    3. From descriptions (not seen yet), the tangental arm done does come from the rest position. Any ideas if this a common and correctable fault?
    4. Are spares easily obtained for this device?
    thanks

    1. Depends where you are - Martin in Denmark and Tim Jarman in the UK

    2. Not sure as the US one is 60Hz and this could be a problem. The Transformer comes out as a module though.

    3. Not sure what you are asking!

    4. No! But a lot of problems are down to capacitors needing replacing and a few due to the tacho disc going on 8000s. The 8002 should not have this problem as the disc is metal.

If the arm works is the same way as the 4000/6000 series. There is a small drive band that moves the arm across the record. Could be this has snapped.

    Hello.

Thank you for your advise. Could you tell me if there is anyone in Australia that can fix this?

    Thanks
