BV 7-40 with DVI port - Switching Project

    Hello,

This is my graphic, sorry about the TV.  I am wondering if this would actually work? There are a few switches here so I'm not sure if they degrade signal or I'll end up with a picture with voice some mill-seconds behind or I induce other problems, or I am I just mad...

    Looking at the Gefen products...

    beoaus.

Re: BV 7-40 with DVI port - Switching Project

Should work. But maybe it would be easier with a Gefen 4x2 switcher/splitter. It`s for 4 HDMI sources and 2 displays (outputs).

Connect the first to DVI input of your BV7-40. The second can be connected to a HDMI - composite downscaler CM-388

Connect the analogue video- and audio outputs to the same port of your BV7.

The Gefen switcher can be controlled via PUC. That`s all. Less devices, less cabling.

I had a similiar setup with a Gefen TV splitter, a Gefen HDMI - composite scaler and a Philips Surround headphone amp to convert the digital audio from my TVIX 6500 box to analogue stereo for linkrooms. It worked, everything in sync.

    Yes, we are mad.......

I looked at the box but its expensive and at this stage I think I don't need it...

I have all the systems listed already accessible in link rooms, via the scart... Those connections I omitted to make the diagrams easier.  I have not bough the TiVo but probably will.

Re: BV 7-40 with DVI port - Switching Project

Came up against a problem. I have not bought the products yet...

Tried a test with and Apple TV and Panasonic DMR-BW500. I set both to handle DVI-I in HDTV menu.  When I do this and manually change the cables no matter what I do only one delivers the HD picture through the DVI port. I swapped cables but still have the same problem. I would have thought a quick cable change and flicking between V.AUX and Camera should have worked?

I can't bear to loose a PUC to control the splitter (I only have 2) so I was planning to do this manually via the Gefen remote....

Have I struck a issue or is my test invalid?...
