    BeoSound 5, BeoMaster, BeoSound 9000

I just connected a new BeoSound/Master 5 to an existing BeoSound 9000.  The BeoSound retains control (physical connection) of the speakers.  The problem I am experiencing is that both N.MUSIC and N.RADIO both function so far as the BeoSound goes, but on the speakers the green light glows but no sound comes through.

Is this an issue with the Master Link configuration on the 9000?   The BeoSound sees the BeoMaster, and can see the internet as well.  Lastly the BeoSound 9000 plays CDs as always, perfectly.

Should I hook my speakers directly to the BeoMaster?  I'd prefer to keep the 9000 in the picture as I don't have a working PC for a few more days to build out the digital music collection.

Check whether your BS5 is set to "NO AUDIOMASTER". Go to SETTINGS, press RIGHT - RIGHT - GO. Go down to ROLES press GO.

Now "AUDIOMASTER NO" should be displayed. If not change from YES to NO. Hope this helps.

Thanks but the BS5 was already set to NO for this setting.  One other symptom of the problem is that spinning the volume ring on the BS5 does not change the blue circle on the screen.  It should track as the volume is adjusted.

One other thing I had not mentioned but might be a clue is that I was able to add N.MUSIC to my Beo4 remote but not N.AUDIO.

There is no N.AUDIO.  Just N.Radio and  N.Music.

Since the BS5 is set to NO AUDIOMASTER, the volume is only controlled via the BS9000.  I have this same setup.  Moving the volume wheel does not change the blue circle.  This is "as designed".

To me, the seems like a master link problem - either a problem with the cable or one of the connection.  The fact that the green light is on tells me that the BS9000 correctly believes it is in N.Music mode and is sending whatever audio it is getting from ML to the speakers.  Unfortunately, it does not seem to be getting any audio - stupid question:  Have you turned up the volume on the BS9000 and/or verified that it is not MUTED?

Are you sure the BS9000 supports the Net Music ?
If it is an older system you will need an update of its software
If you can see Nmusic on the 9000 display when selected it should be ok
If this is all ok, it could  be a ML problem
