Big Smile [:D] OK, who put all that Latin nonsense on the December Prize Draw?

Someone with a very weird sense of humor, and probably waiting for another member to call him on it!

I don't know Latin, but my dad does, and he took one look at it, and started laughing.

So I guess I had to laugh too.

Is this from Dr Seuss, or what?

"Lorem ipsum" is a generic placeholder for text that hasn't been written yet, dating from heaven knows how far in printed media... every now and then it slips through Smile

    Hi:

I didn't know that either and I pride myself on verbosity.

Pro tempore is one that I love using (for the time being).

    Thanks

Assuming you do actually mean "verbosity", I can't say I've ever noticed you overdoing the prolixity!Big SmileLaughing

I do indeed try and refrain from such a regimented application of garrulous lexica as it becomes difficult to rephrase when teaching secondary school children.

However, I have got them to use hyperbole correctly and jingoistic which I am quite pleased about. Next stop verisimilitude.

Yes - thumbs up Loquaciousness in school children should be encouraged  (even if it's only to be able to spell it correctly)Laughing

How about just teaching them the Queen's English, for starters?

The last time I was in England, I didn't understand the youngsters on the Underground.

I was taught the Queen's English growing up in Rhodesia - no, I'm not going to be politically correct, here!

And I can still converse in the Queen's English today! Onomatopaeia, and all that stuff!

Love that! So you teach secondary education Graham? Interesting. I am thinking about moving into that myself in the near future. My subject would be ICT. Do you enjoy your work? More or less preparation that primary in terms of lesson planning etc?

Careful Simon...I thought secondary teaching would be good when I finished my first degree in 2002, but quit my PGCE with about four weeks to go because I could earn more money for less hassle elsewhere. I wouldn't want to get flamed on here for knocking the profession, but if you ever want to hear some cautionary advice then drop me a PM.
