    Question: Jack to passive speaker

    Hi all,

the renovation of our bathroom is moving slowly forward. The tile shop had calculated wrong so we're out of tiles for the moment.

Anyhow, soon it's time to connect BeoVox1 to the backcovers and them to the Beolink Passive. After living in the happy world of active speakers I don't remember much of passive speakers.

I will attach some jack to the speaker cable to be able to connect to Beolink Passive. The jack has two sticks, a flat and a small round. Is this somehow related to plus/minus? Is it important which is what, is ist just enough if I connect them the same, or does it not matter at all?

    Hi Daniel

If I remember right, the small pin is minus, the larger flat one is plus, but just connect them the same. If you mix it up, the speakers will be out of fase resulting in no bass and it would be difficult to determine the direction of the sound, you can use this as a check.

Congratulations on your new speakers by the way!

    best regards

    Thanx Christian!

Thought so, had a vague memory about the importance of connecting them the same.

About the bass, the seller in the hifi store wanted to sell me some very expensive cable because they would give more bass. Big Smile

I didn´t buy the cheapest cable. I've spent so much money on the system so I could also put some money on the cables. But I bought the second cheapest.

The day after I ordered the speakers a shop up north in Sweden had a sell out on all B&O. The BeoVox1 with Beolink Passive was half price. Luckily my dealer was understanding and canceled my order.

Yes there is something frustrating yet entertaining about a HIFI-seller trying to sell you the extra-cobber-patalin-plated-hyper-calbes at 1000 kr per meter..

However, there is some difference between cables, but not enouth to warrant the price. Just use a decend quality and enjoy the music. (I have to step careful here, I don't want to start the religious cable-war Big Smile )

What store is having a sell-out and do they have other interesting equipment? I could soon be in the need of a new (-ish) TV.

    best regards

    The other way around! Wink

    Blade/Spade = (-) negative

    Pin = (+) positive

Easy way to remember is that the blade looks like a (-)

It was Expert in Skövde. Do you remember Robert from the visit in Struer? He was an ex-military who worked extra with selling B&O and was so good he ended up in Struer, working with the develop of new products. He was from Skövde so maybe he worked here.

Anyhow, this was in June so I think they sold everything by now.

If you need a better used TV, here's one for you in Malmö. Wink

Thanks Daniel I appreciate your consideration, but unfortunately as a Research assistent I do not make that kind of money, even though it is only Swedish kroner... Stick out tongue

I was thinking more like a used beovision 3-32, they sell for around 4000 DKK, many of them with dolby sorroundsound module.

    best regards
