"iTunes Mixes" is a new feature of iTunes 9 that was announced last Wednesday.
I downloaded iTunes 9 on Thursday.
But the feature only appeared on my sidebar today (after an iTunes genius update).
Just in time for this Sunday's luncheon guests!
I now have 16 "tailored" mixes based on my library of 8.980 tracks, each seems reasonable groupings of "seed artists", e.g.
1/ Classical Mix: André Previn, Murray Perahia, David Hobson, "& others"
2/ Pop Mix: Kirsty MacColl, Katie Melua, Tenacious D [what ?!?!?], "& others"
3/ Pop Mix 2: Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, John Denver, "& others"
4/ Easy Listening Mix: Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Nat King Cole, "& others"
5/ Rock Mix: Queen, The Who, Free, "& others"
6/ Pop Mix 3: Robbie Williams, Celine Dion, Pink, "& others"
7/ Pop Mix 4: Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Nina Simone, "& others" <== now playing :-)
8/ Soundtrack Mix: Roger Woodward, Richard Robbins, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, "& others"
9/ Pop Mix 5: Carla Bruni, Edith Piaf, François Hardy, "& others"
10/ Rock Mix 2: The Kinks, The Small Faces, Dusty Springfield, "& others"
11/ Rock Mix 3: Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, The Lovin' Spoonful, "& others"
12/ Pop Mix 6: Sarah McLachlin, Maroon 5 [what ?!?!?], Nelly Furtado, "& others"
Each mix is an icon made up from cover art in my collection (so there are some "blank" grey notes for missing art work)
Here is what mix #7 has selected thus far (as captured in Last.FM), at this stage I am very happy with this new feature ...
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
