    Rebuilt MMC5 and Tracking

I just had my MMC5 rebuilt by Axel, and now that it has a new aluminum cantilever, elliptical diamond, and rebuilt suspension, I'm wondering whether I should change the tracking force on my Beogram 1800. I currently have it set at 1.5 g. Thoughts?

I would try 1.2g but see what it sounds like - all cartridges track at slightly different weights anyway.

You won't damage anything by tracking at 1.5g, but I'd go with the above and reduce it to 1.2 or thereabouts.

A quick email to Axel asking his advice wouldn't go amiss either. if you do, please post his conclusionjs here :)

Thanks for the feedback. Interestingly enough, Axel said he thought 1.5g would be fine, but that I could go UP to 2g.

I too would give it a go at 1.2g. The lower the tracking force the better as it puts less wear & tear on both your vinyl & the stylus itself.

    Chris.
