What happens to regions when BV-7's Blu-ray player plays DVDs?

I suppose it is region restricted for Blu-ray discs, but as a DVD player, is it region restricted as well?

If it is, are there ways to unlock it for DVDs and for Blu-ray discs?

It's region restricted from the factory. Mine is set to region 2. However, most Blu-rays aren't region restricted, so that's irrelevant. Only applies to SD DVDs.
