Re: NEWS: BeoVision 7-40...now with Integrated Blu-ray!!

I'm a bit confused about their HD audio support. It says DTS HD and True HD are supported, but then says "Blu-ray discs with DTS HD 7.1 or DTS HD Master 7.1 will be decoded as DTS 5.1"

    What does that mean?

I know what you mean - it isn't exactly clear is it!

Does it mean DTS HD 5.1 and DTS HD MA 5.1 will be decoded at full bandwidth on all channels but it cannot fully decode 7.1 signals and so downconverts them to DTS 5.1 (non-HD) or is it implying that all DTS HD signals will be downconverted to DTS 5.1 (non-HD).

Given all the speculation etc. you'd think that they'd make a special effort to get these infomation releases -

    Clear
    Consise, &
    Comprehensive!

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

I read it as '7.1 would be output as 5.1'. Then I re-read it as 'Blu-ray discs with HD audio will be output as standard DTS'. So, I'm just hoping it's the former!

Isn't this the same as we have seen with the Samsung BluRay 2500 player in the beginning? This one could decode Dolby HD but not DTS HD. With DTS HD it ony send the core stream (5.1)

    Really confusing....

This HD audio debate is never going to go away. I'm now wondering if I'll get the BV7-40 MKIV....to find that further HD audio support is added in those pesky sw updates, in the future ;)

I'm close to finding my own B&O sw technician kit so I can do the updates myself!

I am starting to save for my next B&O purchase

The BeoClone ... I hope to get the Tech model not the Sales model but with the new Golden lustre hair

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
