Will there be a prize draw in 2009...

...because on the prizes page it says:

    "January Prize Draw

The First Prize Draw of 2008"

They are nice prizes, so I will get my self a time machine to travel back in time... Wink

Wow - now that is odd !!!  I set the draw to January 2009, and it actually reset itself back to January 2008 !!!!

I have activated the 2009 January draw - let's hope it stays with us! Laughing

    Wow!

They are even better prizes than in 2008.

I skip the time machine, and stay where I am in time and place...

I did not doubt the continuation of the draws - it is a key feature of this site. It never ceases to amaze me of the quality and diversity of the prizes on offer and the marvellous older items that turn up ! Thanks.

Good luck in the forthcoming draw - I have already earmarked how much money I would need to add to the first prize on the LifeStyle web site in order to make an appropriate purchase!

I'm not greedy... I'll make do with third prize  .... how rare would a mint / virtually unused 2400 unit be? ..... Sweet....

Surprised that the 2400 is a sought after item and a prize worth winning. Several months back I tried selling a complete 2400 system consisting of furniture, speakers, tuner, phono etc etc at starting bid of £150 for the lot.

No one wanted it. I am due to put it all in the wheely bin, but cannot bring myself to ditch them as they are all mint and feel that I should have a token gesture!

     Tastes change I suppose...

    Good luck,

    Russ

Don't do it!! I have a full 2400 system down at Eastbourne - a real classic.

And like Russ, I bet you would have a job to give it away!Devil

I will now put on suitable head-gear and flack jacket. This is not unlike the Avant saga. Soon people will be driving the length and breadth of the country to pick up these things that a month ago were skip-fodder!

I agree that these have little inherent value in the market but they are superb systems. Beautifully made and sound rather useful too!

Re: Will there be a prize draw in 2009...

The beauty of this one is that it is has never even been owned by a private individual - and apart from a handful of weeks on display 28 years ago in the dealers showroom, it's unused.  That, i think, puts it into the 'special' or 'very interesting' category - which are the kind of prizes i like to throw into the draws to make them more interesting for the real enthusiasts.

Sorry for not offering something rarer or more desirable Graham. When it comes to boxed/unused products that are almost 30 years old, it becomes hard to pick and choose!!

I would be more than happy to win the BM2400.

Actually I think, it is the best prize of january months draw.

Rare, desireable, maybe. But if only one person desires it, how do you make sure that he wins it. The other 99.99% of the membership just think that it's a bit of old tat. They must surely wonder why you didn't thow it in your own skip instead of increasing it's carbon footprint by shipping it halfway around the world to some poor sap who dare not be seen to be so ungrateful as to refuse it. I do recall one recent "untouched by human hand" prize that was refused, so there is more than one of us!

Re: Will there be a prize draw in 2009...

I had a pair of 4000's refused a couple of months ago for the record - the winner had just bought some. He was sent some vintage kit instead - and i'm not making that up!

I am being totally straight here when i say please come up with some better ideas for prizes in the prize draw. Whilst i accept criticism and admit i am failing in pleasing everyone all of the time, i also welcome new ideas.  Scrapping the prize draw is not an option - people do actually rather enjoy winning things like a pair of BeoLab 3's for £2.50 (the monthly membership fee for Gold).

I await constructive suggestions, from Graham and anyone else happy to give me ideas!

Was someone perhaps refering to me? Well, you know what?.... you were right... why wasn't I a gold member? I joined intially as silver to get some info and acquaint myself with some vintage pieces.... but you know, I love the forum and should support it as much as I can... so as you can see I've upgraded.... so now as an added bonus I qualify for that sweet little 3rd prize... good luck to me!

Lee, I think its a wonderful prize, this is the unit that introduced me to B&O so it really is a favourite of mine... it would be more than welcome at my house... in fact would even pay the shipping charges!

    Fingers crossed!

Sorry gentlemen, I cannot see your logic.  You all want one but only if it comes free(?) in a prize draw that costs you £30 a year to enter. Meanwhile, these things come up on eBay all the time and make no money. There is a member on our own for sale forum who is trying to sell a complete System 2400 with stand and speakers for £150, why are you not snapping his hand off????

    Regards Graham

personally, it would already be with me... but there is the matter of a small puddle to cross...

back to the draw -i think the 2400 and the bs3 should swap spots!

    Hi,

Well I think that the attraction of this piece is that its a virtually unused dealer unit so that is rare.

As far as buying one, I will in time. About to shift home so need to focus on that at present. But of course if I win something, how can I say no...

Oh and of course I have to consider courier charges which will probably be around USD250 just for the BM.

    Laurence.

I must confess that my 30 pounds is paid to keep this site alive. Never have I thought that I would pay 30 pounds to be a gold member for the pure reason of it being 12 raffle tickets. If you are only here for that then you might have better luck gambling elsewhere. The prize draw should be treated as a pure bonus and a bit of fun, not the reason to subscribe to Beoworld. This site has so much more to offer.
