Bang & Olufsen to auction off unique iconTo celebrate one of its most iconic products, Bang & Olufsen has produced a limited run of 1500 BeoSound 9000 music systems in white. Each of these will be individually numbered, and the number one product will be auctioned off this December/January with all proceeds going to charity.
Struer, December 2008An award-winning design classic, BeoSound 9000 immediately catches the eye with its strong lines, and is at once a modern icon and a state-of-the-art music system.
To celebrate this iconic product, which is still being sold in stores across the world, Bang & Olufsen the worldwide provider of exclusive, high quality audio and video products, is currently launching a limited run of 1500 BeoSound 9000s in white. The production number (from 1-1500) of each of these will be laser engraved on the CD-clamper of the spectacular 6-CD changer, which is, in fact, the fastest in the world, and would accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds if permitted to continue its momentum.
These individually numbered products are presently on sale from dedicated Bang & Olufsen dealerships around the world. Furthermore, to mark the launch of this limited edition, the No. 1 product will be auctioned off by the leading auction house Bruun Rasmussen, with all proceeds going directly to UNICEF.
As Bang & Olufsen is also launching all of its loudspeakers in white, the white BeoSound 9000 will be auctioned off together with a white pair of the equally iconic BeoLab 8000 column loudspeakers. In addition, the highest bidder will subsequently be offered an optional brand tour to Bang & Olufsen headquarters in Struer, Denmark. Here, the buyer will officially receive the products from Bang & Olufsen CEO Karl Kristian Hvidt Nielsen. The brand tour will also include a visit to the recently opened Bang & Olufsen Museum portraying the history of Bang & Olufsen from humble beginnings in the 1920s to world leading brand in the 21st century. There will also be a guided tour of some of the production and test facilities where high tech research, development and production methods meet the long-standing craftsmanship tradition that is a true Bang & Olufsen hallmark.
The on-line auction will take place from 10 December to 15 January, and BeoWorld will provide the link as soon as the auction goes live!
